They spent the last four years throwing parties for Sarah Sanders and are now crowning themselves as the guardians of democracy. It is very dishonest.
My chest is literally getting tight with anger at the ridiculousness of it all. You talk about gaslighting from Trump? This is right up there with his worst.
From day one they laughed along with Sean Spicer, they aired nearly every single one of their pressers, he all but spit in their faces and they said “yes sir, more ratings and page views sir please.”
And it was all a fucking extension of his bloodily racist and xenophobic campaign, where you literally had the kkk saluting him and all they could yell at us for months on end was “economic anxiety.”
Hundred of thousands of people- black, brown, and yes white too - dead, in cages, beaten by police, killed in hurricanes, and they wouldn’t do the basics of their jobs - holding the powerful accountable. And now they want goddamned medals.
And god forbid anyone left of center not immediately fall at their feet. Trump calls them fake news and inspires bombers but nothing gets them more incensed and defensive than a liberal on Twitter. Nothing!

“Defund the police” became a thing because the Democratic Party had NO MESSAGE on police brutality. Yes, Republicans weaponized it. They weaponize everything — have you noticed them sarcastically yelling “peaceful protest”? 1/
Maybe activists didn’t come up with the best term. It isn’t their fault the party was caught flat footed. That’s on the party. Get a message for every key issue. Repeat it. Go to progressive and mainstream media. Repeat it. 2/
Stop blaming activists for your message failure. This is on you. Do a better job. 3/3

Liberal delusion is a very real thing, and if anything it’s at it’s worst when we win
You saw it with the reaction to the election. “I can’t believe so many people would vote for him.” Really? Where you been for the last four years? There’s more of us, thank God, but we live in a country with millions of evil-intentioned people. Wake up.
It’s like that Chappelle SNL sketch in 16. Or how black people were skeptical of backing Obama until white people bought in. Or how most black primary voters picked Biden over others. “This could go bad, better be safe” is always on our minds.

Bingo. “It was debunked.” Yeah. Great. That’s good (I did it for a living) but it only does so much.
Think about it this way: the right says “puppies will eat your face.” fact checkers say “no, puppies do not eat your face.” Generally, liberals think that’s enough.

In reality while this is occurring, liberals should be screaming, “PUPPIES ARE GREAT!!!”
Make the affirmative case. Advance your narrative. Don’t always lean back and assume the msm will carry the story, or if they do, cover it right.

And just keep saying you’re for them, don’t bury them in a press release then whine that “nobody knows I support x.”
It’s often so hard to get elected democrats to say *something* and the Twitter discourse is often so focused on *what* they’re saying instead.
“The congresswoman doesn’t want to make an uncontroversial statement on a popular issue.” Well then, damn, don’t complain when her rival is on Fox all day filling the air with a position and mischaracterizing hers.

Pro or con defunding the police, problems like this can be alleviated by progressives doing their own media. During the marches all people heard were the bad faith Fox/BLM distortion and the inadequate msm interpretation
This is an information war and if you leave a vacuum, someone’s gonna fill it. And the right is really good at filling it it’s crap.
And right now you’ve ceded a lot of that ground to an outlet where one of the most prominent figures is a guy who rose up as a Newt Gingrich lieutenant and thinks conservative Democrats are too far to the left.
