1. The sign of a good head coach is seen in trends. From year to year, is the team improving?

Matt Nagy has gone from 12-4 to 8-8 and now 5-4 with his team losing 3-straight and clearly spiraling.

His offense has also gone from 21st to 29th, to 29th.

No improvement. #Bears
2. Want to know the story of Ryan Pace as #Bears GM?

Spent $45 million on Mike Glennon
Spent 4 draft picks including #2 overall on Mitch Trubisky
Spent a 4th round pick and $21 million on Nick Foles

Nothing more needs to be said. He took three swings at QB and struck out.
3. People keep using the O-line as an excuse for Matt Nagy.

Last week the Bengals were missing 4 starters up front and hung 31 points on the Titans.

This week Dallas put 19 points on the 6th ranked Steelers D without both OTs and fielding a 4th-string QB.

#Bears
4. David Montgomery is a solid RB who is supremely tough to tackle.

Unfortunately, his limitations are pretty clear.

Minimal explosiveness and speed and questionable vision. He's now down to 3.6 yards per carry.

Yes, the blocking is bad, but his flaws don't help. #Bears
5. Mitch Trubisky exited this season with 66.3% of his passes deemed "on target."

After Sunday, Nick Foles has watched his drop to 63.3%.

That is not a call for the #Bears to put Trubisky back in.

It's more a reminder they both suck.
6. Nagy pushed Pace and the #Bears front office to draft Cole Kmet back in April. He had to have tight ends.

Through nine games, their top draft choice has been targeted 8 times.

They passed up sorely needed offensive line help for this?
7. The #Bears defense held Derrick Henry to 68 yards on Sunday. Just 3.24 yards per carry.

They gave up 17 points.

This unit did its job and then some and still lost.

It's tough playing defense in Chicago.
8. Danny Trevathan has steadily improved in the past few weeks. Some of his speed seems to have returned and he's around the football a lot.

He's also improved in coverage from last year. Completion percentage (87.5 to 79.3) and QB rating (113.5 to 109.6) both dropped.

#Bears
9. Jaylon Johnson now leads the team by a pretty wide margin with 12 passes defended.

Opposing QBs have completed just 50% of their passes in his direction.

He's also missed just 3 tackles in nine games.

What a find for the #Bears.
10. The #Bears offense now has at least one turnover in 8-straight games.

They've also committed an average of 3 penalties per game.

It's hard to beat other teams in the NFL when you're too busy beating yourself.
11. Dwayne Harris has 4 more returns and 57 more return yards in two games than Ted Ginn Jr. had in six.

Pat O'Donnell is averaging 46.9 yards per punt.

Cairo Santos has hit 20-straight kicks.

So at least things are going well on special teams.

#Bears
12. The #Bears are currently projected to hold the 16th overall pick in the 2021 draft.

Some noteworthy names taken at that spot?

Jerry Rice
Bobby Bell
Zack Martin
Julian Peterson
Ryan Kerrigan
Marlon Humphrey

1. Mitch Trubisky was all over the place in Green Bay.

Made some outstanding plays and never quit.

Also made a few costly mistakes.

It was a microcosm of his year.

While he deserves blame, the loss is not entirely on him. He was one of the best players on offense. #Bears
2. David Montgomery concludes his seventh game of 2019 rushing for less than 50 yards.

It's probably not a coincidence the #Bears are 1-6 in those games.
3. Five #Bears tight ends have combined for 283 yards this season.

Nick Boyle, the Baltimore Ravens' third-string tight end, has 291 yards.

I wanted to wait a bit for things to settle down before assessing what the #Bears accomplished over the past three days from the draft to undrafted free agency.

Here we go.
1. I love how Ryan Pace altered his approach to the early rounds. He shifted to targeting more proven players who were highly productive and experienced in college. #Bears.
2. Roquan Smith is a stud. He was my favorite defensive prospect and I knew he'd make such a good fit for the #Bears. Vic Fangio is a former linebackers coach who's overseen Ray Lewis and Patrick Willis. His push for Smith should be considered gospel. #Bears
