This is what you said about women being able to debate about sex and gender
This is what you said about @helenlewis being cancelled by @Ubisoft (and them saying in future they will be careful not to hire any such #difficultwomen)
This is what you said about someone, possibly JK Rowling, but you could not say her name
Even Sam Smethers has been put on a list of "notable TERFs" alongside the other witches for very mildly defending sex based rights, and so is potentially cancellable
Fawcett has three choices for their next long-term CEO
A) Hire someone who will join in the condemnation of #difficultwomen (aka 'TERFs')
B) Hire someone who will fearlessly stand up for sex based rights
C) Hire a CEO who will continue to equivocate, fudge and make concessions
It is awkward to stand up for Helen Lewis now, because it raises the Q of why the organisation hasn't stood up for other feminists getting cancelled previously
But it is worse to keep staying silent, and completely giving up on ever standing up for women
It you can't stand up for #difficultwomen having political voice what is Fawcett for?
In the run up to the Gender Recognition Act in 2003 the government estimated that there were 5,000 transsexuals in the UK, thats 10 in 100,000 adults or 0.01%
In the run up to the consultation on self ID in 2018 the government said there were up to 500,000 trans people in the UK - thats 1% of adults
The @Commonswomequ is now asking "Why is the number of people applying for GRCs so low ?"
In 2003 the 5,000 figure was based on people who had changed their details with the DVLA, passport office or HMRC, based on work by pressure group Press for Change
The 2018 government estimate is based on work by pressure GIRES to estimate the number of "gender variant" people
Helen says she believes that "trans women are women"
But she also criticises self ID and defends single sex spaces - and speaks up strongly for the need to be able to talk about this, including the freedom of speech of those who disagree with her
Helen's is a careful, moderate voice in all of this. Moderate enough to stay on the right side of @jolyonmaugham@samsmethers@fawcettsociety (... but will they stand up for her?)
Like here. Was it a women's health spa? In which case yes it is legitimate to exclude members of the opposite sex
If it was a mixed sex spa why does the example only ref women complaining?
And this one - a female who has no surgery or medication but passes for male (is the EHRC on drugs?)
But it's a non threatening example.
Why no make it about a male who has no surgery and lives "as a woman"
Would be covered by S7. But should they be in the female spa??
And this one. A clothing store has a women's changing room . So it excludes men. Men can't just say "but there are cubicles!" They'd still be turned away presumably... So the cubicles don't make it ok
