A lot of people have been asking my opinion on these two stories. Question: Does this story highlight double standard and institutional racism?

#OsimeBrown, a Black autistic boy, who was a teenager, at the time of his arrest for being present in a group, whilst a mobile phone was being stolen, within the two groups of young people, who were socialising together
and Harry Vaughn, a 19 year old middle class white man, who had been spared jail sentence, for significant acts of terrorism, citing his autism as mitigating factor and the Metro reported he was also found to have downloaded two videos of child abuse which were classified in the
most serious ‘A category.’ while Osime, significantly challenged, austic Black boy, received a significant custodial sentence, just for being present at the scene of a crime, where a mobile phone was stolen and despite a witness testifying that he did not take the phone
but indeed asked them to stop. Osime’s autism was totally ignored and denied as a real experience until I appointed a psychologist for him. Throughout the whole of Osime’s sentencing and subsequent incarceration, neither was his autism nor his health condition taken into
consideration; so I have walked this journey, observed first hand the disparity with which my son was treated, and now would have to be brain dead or be guilty of committing intellectual suicide to deny that his ethniticity played a significant role in the way he was treated.
Throughout his ordeal it would appear as if less or insignificant attention has been given to his autistic needs in contrast to his skin tone, and his height.
However, the focus seemed to have been skewed towards punishment: I would argue based upon two visible factors, they saw that he was tall and Black
and instead of seeing he was vulnerable, they saw a threat; while the real reason for his apparent vulnerability had nothing to do with being Black, but his autism.

He is really trying to adjust and reorientate himself. He was in a cruel environment in prison for three years."

“I want to see a public inquiry for all cases like Osime’s – children and young people who have been in care and end up in the criminal justice system.” Joan Martin.
Clare Hayes and Sarah Ricca, of Deighton Pierce Glynn said: “It would seem from information received to date that the threat to deport Osime is the culmination of a long history of discriminatory treatment, which is all too familiar for children with autism
