Today is Jagadguru Sri Chandrashekhara Bharathi Mahaswamigal's Jayanti. Acharyal reigned as the 34th Jagadguru of Sri Sharada Peetham, Sringeri between 1912 & 1954. His avatara occurred on Ashvina Krsna Ekadashi in the year Nandana. 1/n #sringeri #jagadguru

Born to the pious couple Sri Gopala Shastri & Smt Lakshmamma, Acharyal shone in tapas, devotion to Ishvara & Sri Sharada and establishment in the Supreme Brahman gracing devotees beyond the confines of space & time. 2/n #sringeri #jagadguru

Acharyal's divine avatara had an equally divine beginning. His purvashrama parents bore 11 children only to lose all of them. The austere couple continued their worship of Ishvara & the Guru with forbearance, fortitude & faith. 3/n #sringeri #jagadguru

One Navaratri, Acharyal's purvashrama mother was invited to participate as a suvasini in the nitya pujas in the Mutt. The then Jagadguru, Sri Sacchidananda Shivabhinava Nrsimha Bharathi Mahaswamigal graced the puja to offer arghyam to the assembled suvasinis. 4/n #sringeri

Acharyal's mother silently shed tears out of her plight as the great Jagadguru stood before her. Upon the Jagadguru's enquiry, the mother related her tale of woe & beseeched Him to grace her with progeny. 5/n #sringeri #jagadguru

Verily Ishvara Himself, the Jagadguru asked the mother if she would dedicate a child born to her to the service of Sri Sharada & the Peetham. The mother humbly agreed. The Jagadguru, the paragon of mantra siddhi, silently prayed and poured arghyam in her hands. 6/n #sringeri

The Jagadguru further ordained that the couple perform a yatra to Gokarna & worship Sri Mahabaleshvara just as the divine couple of Aryamba & Shivaguru worshipped Sri Vrishachaleshvara in Thrissur to be graced with Sri Bhagavatpadal. 7/n #sringeri #jagadguru

The pronouncements of satya sankalpas such as the Jagadgurus of Sringeri never go in vain. Soon, the couple bore a child who would go on to become the famed jivanmukta, Jagadguru Sri Chandrashekhara Bharathi Mahaswamigal. 8/n #sringeri #jagadguru

Incidentally, today November 11th is the date on which Jagadguru Sri Bharathi Teertha Mahaswamigal, the reigning pontiff of the Peetham, was ordained into Sannyasa by Jagadguru Sri Abhinava Vidyateertha Mahaswamigal in the year 1974. #sringeri #jagadguru
