I saved this one for a follow up because it deserves its own tweet. Behold the majesty of the New York Times:
A sampling of 'to be sure' caveats in this NYT report, which probably should've raised a red flag:
"The parallel is not exact."
"There is little indication that Mr. Trump can overcome the laws and institutions..."
"Nobody expects Mr. Trump to follow that gruesome example."
Here is a picture NYT is running with the piece: Milosevic at The Hague
"Mr. Trump does not have to worry about being charged with war crimes and genocide, as Mr. Milosevic was, but"
Nevertheless!
Like Mr. Trump, Mr. Milosevic wore an ill-fitting suit. To be sure, Mr. Trump is no Mr. Hitler--who would almost certainly not eat a fast-food-heavy diet. Just as Pharaoh wouldn't let my people go, Mr. Trump is expected to

This is a big source of frustration. Officials don't seem to be paying close attention to where spreading is taking place, just trying to head off questions of "well then why are *they* allowed to stay open?" Well, those questions often have actual answers!
"To stop the spread of the virus we recommend New Yorkers take up day drinking, then maybe head over to the gym."
Spine Gap update: One sad thing about Max Rose losing is he was the one elected Democrat willing to push back on the Squad's antisemitism. His replacement obviously will call it out too but it was nice having someone from their own party do it.
Hopefully Rose will run for mayor or something where he can continue kicking de Blasio around the yard.
Also, and this is important: Rose was an ally against James Vissarionovich Dolan.
Also that GOP pickup in Orange County suggests Republicans should be pretty happy. Idk how the party managed to escape with its brand in one piece but man, put aside the victim complex and take the W here. Don’t Shawshank this where you can’t remember how to live on the outside.
It’s like a reboot of My Two Dads but America is that kid and the dads are Mitch McConnell and Joe Biden. Gonna be fun!
So far Biden says his mandate is... decency, kindness, healing, beating the virus so we can hug our family members again. "Defeat despair." That's his wish list. He's a very different politician than we're used to, in a good way.
(That's not a remark aimed at the current president. It's an acknowledgement that Biden is unusual at this level, from either party.)
although now they're playing Coldplay after the speech so time to impeach
Cuomo knows he can do this now because every prominent national Dem is either on a campaign or hoping for an appointment after the election, so it could be months before he faces any criticism from those whose existence he acknowledges
There are lots of fantastic ppl in the Biden orbit and they do care about Jewish wellbeing. The silence now is not their finest moment but they’ll be back when things settle down. It’s one reason we so badly need more nonpartisan Jewish advocacy groups like the AJC.
Not talking about operatives or spox, sorry for confusion. I mean folks who are angling for ambassadorships and would-be envoys and NSC regionals etc. Ppl who are not typically officials of the campaign but feel they have too much to lose to make a headache for him right now.
Trying to get the ppl in my life to appreciate the Pogues has always been fun. First time I took a friend to see the Pogues there was vomit on the floor two hours before they were set to go on stage and my friend was horrified and I was like CAN YOU FEEL THE MAGIC
Another time I took a different group of friends and Shane was confined to a wheelchair and they'd put a bottle of wine on a table on the stage just out of his reach and he spent the whole concert trying to catch it. I was joyful and my friends were like 'this is elder abuse.'
