Big day for ballot counting in NC. Provisionals will be thrown into the mix. Here is where key races stand at 10:30 as results trickle in:

Chief Justice: Newby +842
AG: Stein +13,748

We should get an idea from NCSBE later today how many ballots are left to count
1:10 pm update

Chief Justice: Newby +855
AG: Stein +13,729
5 pm update

Chief Justice: Newby +884
AG: Stein +13,691
NEW: As of 7:30, Cheri Beasley has taken the lead in the race for Chief Justice. She leads republican Paul Newby by 412 votes @wsoctv
Beasley's lead is up to 672. Unfortunately NCSBE did not send out a list of counties meeting today and how many ballots, so it is tough to tell how many are still out there and where they are. Davidson County met earlier this week, considered 1000 ballots, and still hasn't posted
Mecklenburg County is meeting right now and still counting provisionals. So we will get those results at some point tonight. Might be late. An official just emailed me saying "no end in sight"
According to state law, county boards of elections will complete their processes and canvass the election on Friday, November 13. The State Board will meet on November 24 to certify final results.
8:30 update

I'm sitting alongside a road that was once flooded but alas is now dry awaiting my 11 pm live shot but I am told Mecklenburg County BOE is still counting provisionals and the board had sandwiches for dinner
New: I'm told Mecklenburg BOE will hear a protest filed by Paul Newby tomorrow at 10 am.

Meck BOE adjourned until then. No new results from the county tonight. Canvass will follow the protest hearing
I just got a copy of the complaint. Here is Newby's argument for the protest. Meck County will hear it at 10 am Image
In addition to the chief justice race, the attorney general race is also being protested in Newby's complaint
Newby is asking for the vote count to be corrected Image
A Meck BOE official accidentally provided me with the wrong time. The protest will be at 11 am. Not 10
Paul Newby is represented by Roger Knight. Possible other protests have been filed by him in other counties too but I only have Meck County confirmed right now

Current state of the race:
Cheri Beasley- 2,683,839(50.01%)
Paul Newby- 2,682,806 (49.99%)

Beasley + 1,033

Plans for light rail expansion haven't been derailed because of COVID. The Charlotte Moves Taskforce is set to present funding recommendations next week for a "Transformational Mobility Network." Council presentation in December. Possible $4-6 billion local cost. At 11 @wsoctv
Council's goal has been to expand the light rail to Belmont (with a stop at the airport), Matthews and Ballantyne at the same time. The Transformational Mobility Network deals with more than just light rail expansion-- like road and bike path improvements.
Voters in Austin just approved a $7.1 billion package that will raise property taxes by 8.75 cents (4%). Austin's plan calls for light and commuter rail, a downtown train tunnel and expanded bus service. Overall it was a good year for transit at the polls constructiondive.com/news/austin-te…
