Know what’s wild about being a BW who’se been in Hollywood since she was 14? You know how dangerous & predatory the biz is. Espc 4 kids. I’m proud that I’m still in it. But I understand ppl who’ve had to leave & also the ppl that fell into addiction or other issues. So when...
...folks try & “put you in your place” by bringing up “your crackhead years”...I know they’ve mixed me up with someone else. And I also know, at 15 yrs old...one or 2 diff choices & that absolutely could’ve been me. And the world would’ve gone on. It puts you in a position 2...
...both be protective of the ppl you know they’re referring to...but also sad that it could’ve been you. It’s such a strange & sad position a lot of us are in. I’m so fucking proud that I have family who loves me outside of this shit. And I do not take it lightly. There’s...
...a reason me & my husband were married at 18/19. We were each other’s safety. It could’ve turned out way different for me. I’m grateful to still even be in these conversations. But my heart breaks for Black girls & women, who were just as talented & who were abused &...
...pushed out. It’s something I’m both proud of myself for & something I honestly still struggle with. Saying all of that to say, your “child actor/addiction” jokes & comments, never were & never will be funny.
And just like the music business, Me Too still has not hit Black Hollywood. We have stories. Many of them. But ‘Blackness’ protects folks. And I’ll leave it at that. If your fave “I used to watch you back when” Black actor is still working, understand that’s a gahtdamn miracle.

In ppl’s attempt to “educate” Black voters, ppl never question WHY Millions of Black voters STOPPED voting Repub. That, by itself is anti Black. Cause instead of looking at Black voters coming out of slavery as educated/motivated voters, voting for their own best interest...
...you see Black voters...Black People as being in need of leadership. Of guidance. Cause we’re too “dumb” to know any better, instead of seeing that NO ONE votes as pragmatic as Black Americans. We lived thru this country’s terror. And we still are. You don’t think Black...
...people, fresh out of slavery knew what this political system was & is?? Just insulting people’s intelligence & being anti-Black af. Instead of being racist, why don’t you bring that same energy to the tens of millions of WP who vote Repub? How about you do that?

AOC said that this country needs MAJOR anti-racism what...education or outreach in this country & she’s gotten major pushback w/in the party about that. There’s similar push back about the ‘Defund the Police’ movement. Which, tbf if you don’t look into what it means...
...which folks have had plenty of time to do, but if you haven’t, the idea of no police *does* scare a lot of ppl. Black ppl included. But the idea is to reallocate funds to other much needed/safer/healthier options for citizens in need. There *are* also ppl who want NO police.
Saying all of that to say, AOC & newer, fresher Dems (espc of color) know that there are HUGE opportunities to GROW the base & engage with voters/voters of color who have been abandoned/ignored. And that movement has been happening on the ground for YEARS/DECADES w/o ...

Yup. “Latino” is not a singular race. Ppl got mad @ Joe 4 saying what he said but he’s right. Puerto Ricans don’t vote like Cubans who don’t vote like Mexicans etc. Diff histories/diff fears/diff motivations. Add race 2 the mix (lots of White Latinx ppl) & have a REAL good time🙃
This country threw everyonecwho speaks Spanish into the “Latinx” category like ppl aren’t descendants of Conquistadors, descendants of African enslaved ppl AND descendants of Indigenous ppl. JUST LIKE THE STATES. But the “Latinx” vote is supposed to be the same?? And that’s...
...just within the same country. Imagine lumping ppl from 20plus countries into one block. It doesn’t work. And Joe was right, you cannot count the made up “Latinx” vote the same as any other group. Folks are NOT the same, do not come from the same circumstances & do not...

Listening to so many podcasts breakdown the “I am” ep of #LovecraftCountry & all of the ways this “respectable” Black woman (Hippolyta) , George’s wife was both angry & being shrunk by the people who hate AND love her. Wow...
That Hippolyta was a literal math/science genius but it was George who was the one out exploring while she stayed at home & cooked his food & raised his child...and that *HE* (the man who loved her) had no prob with that arrangement AND was the one to decide whether to...
...*allow* his adult/math/science genius wife to explore with him...wow. And the fact that “angry BW) has been used by WP but espc WW & BW as a curse or silencer for US knowing damn well they *also* have a fucking lot to be angry about as well...but as long as you hold BW ...

Not so random. I did a film recently. RECENTLY. When negotiating pay, I found out that B/C/D list white actresses, for the same work, on another network were getting 3 X WHAT I GOT. Same work. Similiar storyline. But THEY, WW (in my similiar celeb status) still got 3X more.
So when we talk about the racial/gender wealth gap & how much Black Americans have lost out on....yeah. It’s a LOT. And even in the gender wage gap, WW while still making less than WM, still make WAY MORE than BW/WOC. I bring that up bcuz, when I think about how much Black ppl...
...have lost out on, in our lifetimes, it’s so much. So so much. In every career, every education level...from the time we are born until the day we die.

This virus is killing Black ppl disproportionately. Black businesses were (disproportionately) kept from Covid financial relief & have had to close/permanently. Black children & schools right now...ARE THESE NOT BLACK ISSUES??? And that’s JUST about Covid 19. Like...
Ofcourse when we get into the meat and potatoes of EVERYTHING, I’m sure we’ll find out that Black ppl aren’t doing the best. And it’s not by accident. We know that. We don’t all think a like & that’s okay but bruh...there’s either the path FORWARD or the path backward. Das it🤷🏽‍♀️
So what is the hang up when ppl are dying NOW. When school kids were ALREADY behind...and are falling even further. But if all you’re worrying about is *you* and not all of us, I can see how none of this matters to you. And also how things that benefit Black ppl who are not...
