a thread after seeing lots of timid news coverage of Trump/GOP's attack on free fair elections this week; pressrun.media/p/trumps-elect…
first POTUS in 240 yrs to refuse to accept election results, and GOP supports it. Instead of vivid portraits of a party abandoning any principles as GOP lawmakers obediently fall in line behind Trump's nasty behavior, we get coverage about how savvy Republicans are being
One CNN report this week even suggested Republicans had “no choice” but to back Trump’s election sabotage.

Republicans do have a choice — they can support the rule of law and denounce the attempt to do lasting damage to our democracy.
one Politico dispatch dismissed Trump’s election sabotage as little more than “bad sportsmanship.”

By waving off Trump’s attack on the American electoral system, the press becomes part of the problem.
Does it not occur to journalists that Republicans are enabling Trump’s attempt to overthrow election results **because Republicans are fine with Trump’s attempt to overthrow election results?**

this all represents a sad ending to the media's failed 4 yrs of Trump coverage

NYT *so desperate* to portray GOP as standing up to Trump sabotage
spoiler: they’re not; pressrun.media/p/trumps-elect…
“It’s likely being done because journalists are nervous about detailing the GOP’s radical and autocratic ways, because then they can no longer present Republicans as mainstream players.”

btw, i wrote this three months ago; pressrun.media/p/memo-to-medi…
"That's why there have been so many, Here's-How-Trump-Dropped-The-Ball process stories, followed by Here's-How-Trump-Can-Fix-The-Problem pieces. Both narratives miss the disturbing reality of what's been unfolding for the last five months — Trump doesn't care. Period."
he's a monster. Beltway press has spent 4 yrs trying not to say that.

nobody
is
stopping
him

it’s been a week and the entire GOP hasn’t found 5 questionable ballots in whole country

what a charade
seriously! who exactly is trying to stop Trump from filing these joke lawsuits?

nobody cares bc the courts keeping laughing them out
i'm not dismissing the seriousness of GOP's predictable, anti-democratic response to election loss.

i'm saying GOP needs to be confronted over rhetoric that invisible forces are trying to stop GOP from counting votes etc.

show us the evidence of fraud.

BREAKING: the NYT thinks the NYT did an amazing job covering Trump's 4 yrs; nytimes.com/2020/11/08/bus…
i've honestly never seen a news org publish such breathless praise for an employee before under the guise of "news"
embarrassing beyond belief.

but it's the NYT and the NYT can do no wrong according to everyone who works at the NYT
