Well that’s it. I am quitting @UKLabour. I don’t expect anyone to care, but let me explain via this thread why, so as to act as a cathartic cleansing for my soul.
I could have quit....

When Starmer won the leadership without releasing his list of big money donors during the leadership contest.
I could have quit....

When early on it looked like he was reigning in on his promise not to talk to The S*n
I could have quit....

With Starmer refusing to act on the #LabourLeaks that not only show those within the leadership office worked against Corbyn in the 2017 general election but disgusting misogyny & racism again Dianne Abbott & others.
I could have quit....

When Starmer belittled black lives matter as “a moment” and not a movement.
I could have quit....

When he unjustly fired @RLong_Bailey from the shadow cabinet claiming she had been antisemitic. She had not.
I could have quit....

When the party used the membership fees to pay off the people who lied about antisemitism on @BBCPanorama. Even though legal advice told them they would win the case.
I could have quit....

When Starmer criticised those who pulled down the statue of racist Edward Colston in Bristol.
I could have quit....

When Starmer told Labour MPs to abstain on the #SpyCops bill which would allow undercover agents to break the law including torture, murder and rape.
I could have quit....

At any point during the last few months when it is clear he is breaking his own pledges of sticking to Labour’s radical policy positions for economic & social justice, tackling the climate crisis and working with unions. Also an effective opposition.
I could have & probably should have quit all those times. But I didn’t want to give up. But now he has suspended the most honourable politician of our time in @jeremycorbyn on faux charges, I can’t stay anymore.
I’m not saying Jeremy is perfect or got everything right. But he has principles and always sticks up for those who can’t stick up for themselves. It’s why the media, political elite, big business & rich hate him. He’s a man of the people.
I hung in there to vote for the #GrassrootsVoice 6 for the NEC & am happy 5 were elected. Solidarity to them all & @lara_eleanor too.

But to see who topped the poll shows this party no longer is what it should be. And Starmer has a clear majority in the NEC to do what he likes.
And now it is also clear the party are purging members from democratic votes, hence the delay in the #NECElections results yesterday. Appalling.
What should the party be? Well it says on every single membership card:

“The Labour Party is a democratic socialist party.”

It doesn’t feel like it anymore. 😔
To those choosing to stay & fight, I get it. I just can’t anymore allow my membership fee to be used by those fighting for the opposite of me - a party representing the working class fighting for equality & social justice.
To the @socialistcam, you need to do more. There is no indication that you have a clue what to do. But you need to fight for Jeremy, and fight for socialism. A few tweets & virtual rallies won’t cut it.
I hope to someday see the party as a place that wants to champion the values which made me join in the first place. But it does seem Labour is always cursed with its toxic infighting.

Maybe it’s time to create something new. Solidarity comrades🌹🌹🌹
