Google, you are bad at UX.

Proofs below 👇
1 / Gmail

I've been using gmail for more than 10 years. And every time I want to load more emails, it takes time to find where the pagination buttons are.

Their placement is completely non-logical.
2 / Google developer console

I thought that I'm the only one who searches in google if I need to find something related to the google developer console.

Turned out that I'm not.

Almost impossible to find something there.
3 / Google Analytics

I think that one of the reasons that such services as @PlausibleHQ and @usefathom are so popular is that there are courses on how to use GA.

While all you need is a quick overview of your traffic.

You have powerful features but poorly presented.
4 / Material Design

Material design is good, but you use it everywhere even if it's not suitable.

For example, why you put the only "Send feedback" link in the top-right menu? You have a question mark nearby, which is more suitable.

Don't pollute your header!
5 / New icons

There are plenty of memes around new google icons.

Even if they look stylish, they might be somewhat confusing, indeed.
6 / Starred vs Important

In Gmail there are "starred" and "important" messages.

What's the difference?

Not to mention you have dozens of menu items in the left menu...
7 / How to close panels in Gmail?

Why I cannot hide "Meet" section on the left? If I can, I don't know how to do it. There are no clues.
8 / Weird UI

Why you have extra padding in the menu without icons?

There are plenty of other small things in UI which irritate users, too lazy to describe them all
Actually, there are way too many examples to show.

Complex navigation, tricky settings, material UI everywhere...

Do you agree that Google UX should be more user friendly?

Your app talks to humans, not machines.

Here are THREE main principles of communicating with users in your apps.

Thread 👇 Image
1 / Be explicit

Don't tell the user that he has typed a wrong password when signing up. Tell him exactly what's wrong.

Bad: "Your password is wrong"
Good: "Your password should contain at least 6 characters"

Your users are not visionaries. Image
2 / Don't leave users without any clues of what to do next.

It often happens that developers show users some kind of error if something went wrong.

App: "An error occurred. We are sorry".
User: so...now what?

Provide users with further instructions on what he can do. Image
