I don't get it. We're seeing a spike in coronavirus cases, we have to make sure we have a smooth transfer of power to get the vaccine to market, and Joe Biden is being denied his ability to being to transition over and the media is like, "But what's Trump's point here?". Stop it.
It's time for everyone to make it clear that Donald Trump, and the Republican Party that's aiding and abetting him, is wrong and is doing real and calculable damage with their refusal to accept legitimate election results. It's not about "humoring" him, it's validating insanity.
At no point in the four years of Trump's time in office have the GOP ever backed away from supporting his most ridiculous of instincts. There's never been a time when they've stood up to him or told him that enough is enough. Why do we keep expecting them to change now?
We're going to be having the same conversation two, three, and even six weeks from now about "When is the GOP going to tell him it's over?". THEY WON'T. Because they don't want to. The Republicans will ride this as long as it hurts Joe Biden's ability to govern. That's their plan
The Republicans aren't interested in unity. They want fealty from Democrats. All of this "We need to respect the 70million people who voted for Trump" line is bullshit when they never respected the millions more who voted for Clinton in '16 and Biden in '20. It's a cynical ploy.
Come next fall, when the Republicans have refused to confirm half of Joe Biden's cabinet appointees and GOP Senators are still saying, "We're just not sure about those election results, so we're not going to confirm these people," then you'll see what this equivocating created.
And, somewhere, Chuck Todd's going to be on TV saying, "I wonder what the Republicans are trying to do here? I mean, can they really block the Treasury Secretary nominee for a full year?". Like he's not complicit in the shit now. I'm tired.

We are ten days away from the end of the election and Trump and the GOP have utterly failed in presenting the affirmative case for keeping them in power. They have no platform, they have no plan, and they don't even have facts. All they have is white grievance and antipathy...
Sadly, outside of a pandemic and with a healthy enough economy, Trump and the GOP might have been able to mount a successful campaign on white grievance and antipathy, but this is the exact moment people need a functioning and fact-based government and they're not getting it...
And on all of the other traditional GOP metrics, the party is failing. They've shown no fiscal discipline. Their support for Trump has made a mockery of family values. They've ceded global primacy to Vladimir Putin. And now they come to voters and ask for more power. How? Why?

When I was 17, my boy Antoine connected with some girls from another neighborhood across town. I had a car, so he asked me if I wanted to roll up to Aqueduct to kick it with these girls. I was young and stupid and said yes. We got there and fucked around and stayed too late...
It's 8:00 at night, the sun had gone down, I look out the window, and it's four dudes that I don't know all leaning on my car. It's 1995, so I ain't have keyless entry. We were gonna hafta fight or get taxed to get the fuck outta there. I was scared for my life...
So we told the girls to go out front and see what the dudes wanted so that we could get in the car and leave. They came back in and was like, "They don't want nothing, they said y'all can leave whenever." Relieved, we walked out the door, got in the car, started pulling away...

Folks, maybe it's time to admit something to ourselves; the Biden campaign is pretty good. They haven't gone off message. They haven't chased down wild Trump statements. And since the "You ain't Black" incident, there hasn't been a major gaffe. It's almost like they're better.
With all of the noise and chaos the Trump team generates, it's hard to see things for what they are. But the case is pretty clear here; the Biden campaign is disciplined, organized, and robust. We just don't talk about it because it's being drowned out by a clown show.
Biden and the Democrats raised $370million last quarter and there hasn't been a peep about it since the initial reporting. But Trump shows up at an airplane hangar and spits out a 90 minute hate laden word salad and that gets top billing. It's almost like it's two different races

Just a reminder that the Republicans took less than four weeks to pass the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 to redistribute billions (if not more) in wealth to the top 1%. Now, in the middle of a pandemic, these same Republicans can't seem to find any money for working Americans.
In July, 32% of American families missed or couldn't completely pay their housing costs for the month. I'm sure that number is going to go up in August. And, in response to that fact, the Republicans are going home this weekend. Trump is playing golf. And families are in crisis.
American families who, by no fault of their own, aren't able to work because of a pandemic that this government has failed to adequately address need to look no further than the Republicans and their inability to rationally govern and direct their ire at them on November 3.

Folks Donald Trump isn't some kind of savant who defies the conventional norms of politics. He's an asshole who is so unfit for his job that we just can't explain how someone so terrible got the job lest we admit what it says about us. People project onto him to deflect from them
It's like if you picked up a dog on the street, brought it home and nursed it to health, and then your neighbor looked at it and said, "Hey, that's a coyote." Your first reaction would be, "Nah. It can't be." Not because it isn't. You just don't want to admit you're that dumb.
So when the media equivocates or people act like Trump is some brilliant strategist playing 9 dimensional chess, they're trying to convince themselves that they weren't the dummies that brought the coyote home. That coyote was just displaying smart dog behaviors.

Write this down: Black "progressivism" is not the same as white progressivism and, if you listen to black academics and intellectuals over black politicians and businesspeople, you'll never have a fully accurate understanding of the motivations of black voters. It's complicated.
One of the big mistakes that the media has made over the course of this campaign is to assume that black voters aren't coldly rational and pragmatic about who they vote for and why. Black academics made cases for Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren that were way off base.
The fact is, black voters are sophisticated enough to see through all of the promises of the progressive candidates and discount them when thinking about what's at stake. Black folks see through the bs. You can't offer universal benefits to people who have been uniquely excluded.
