@BorisJohnson Second, @Madi_Czerwinski is today launching a new organization, Campaign for a Green Nuclear Deal, which Environmental Progress is proud to support.
Madi joined EP in 2016 & served as Exec Vice President overseeing all of EP’s programs & operations since 2017.
She is one of the brightest and most talented thinkers and activists I have ever known
I am sad to see her leave, but happy and excited for what she’s about to do!
During the coronavirus pandemic and summer protests, Madi grew increasingly passionate about the need to rebuild America in a way that protects the natural environment, strengthens national security, and brings America together.
After three years of campaigning with EP for nuclear around the world, and overseeing our ground-breaking research, Madi wanted to campaign not just in the US but in the heartland states that most need re-industrialization.
The goals of the Campaign for a Green Nuclear Deal are
- increase nuclear from 20 to 50% of America’s electricity by 2050
- re-start construction of Summer nuclear plant in South Carolina
- halt the premature closure of nuclear plants from California to Illinois
All by 2030!
There is an urgent need for a Green Nuclear Deal
Americans are more divided than at any point since the Civil War. We need something we can come together around.
Strange as it may seem, nuclear is it, bringing together progressives & conservatives more than anything else
Finally, I’m happy to report that Apocalypse Never continues to be a best-seller & will be translated into 12 languages!
Please consider buying copies as holiday gifts for friends and relatives.
And thank you for your continuing support for Environmental Progress!

@ziontree I met Zion last year when she was spokesperson for radical UK climate group, Extinction Rebellion
When it became clear Sizewell was the most important nuclear project in the world, I reached out to her, and ended up hiring her, a story I describe here.
@ziontree Zion campaigned relentlessly for Sizewell, writing articles for Britain's largest newspapers, participating, appearing in public debates, and organizing a pro-nuclear swim protest in front of Sizewell to underscore the safety of nuclear

Quick! Somebody alert Facebook’s censors @ClimateFdbk to slap a warning label on that San Francisco Chronicle story for being “misleading” because it failed to mention that climate change has doomed our forests to the apocalypse!!! @JohnStossel
All of this will come as a shock to East Coast journalists who are too scared to go camping but were absolutely certain climate change had burned down 2,000 year old redwood trees
Under Obama-Biden, “$15B went to energy efficiency, which turned out to be a massive waste of money. 2x as much money was spent weatherizing homes as was saved. The episode disproved the myth that efficiency investments always “pay for themselves.”
“Determined to learn nothing from history, Green New Dealers are now proposing to spend taxpayer dollars weatherizing every building in America.”
FWIW, this is not a left-right issue. Even @MotherJones reports, “the upfront cost of efficiency upgrades came to about $5,000 per house, on average. But their central estimate of the benefits only amounted to about $2,400 per household.”
"California's rolling blackouts this summer were caused by decades of costly and poorly planned decisions to replace nuclear and gas plants with solar and wind."
California had blackouts last fall and was on the brink of 'cascading failures' from a shortage of electricity just a few weeks ago
So in response to our energy crisis you're seeking to a) increase demand for electricity from EVs & b) kill a plant that provides power to 3M?
If you care so much about reducing emissions, why are you seeking to replace the 9% of our electricity that comes from clean nuclear rather than the 50% that comes from fossil fuels?
