What connects regime change NGO @RiosdePie in Bolivia, the @OAS_official, the Spanish far-right political party @vox_es, and the libertarian think-tank Atlas Network? The common goal of supporting the installation of authoritarian right-wing governments in the region. Open thread
The Bolivian far-right has wasted no time in building a new opposition movement to the government of @LuchoXBolivia. The most prominent organisation in the mix is US-funded "NGO" @RiosDePie and their main regime change agent, @JhanisseVDaza, pictured here with @JeanineAnez.
At the moment they are engaged in 3 main campaigns against the government They continue to claim that the October 18th election was either fraudulent or the TSE favoured the outcome of MAS victory thus casting doubt on any future electoral victories of MAS erbol.com.bo/nacional/diput…
They falsely claimed that MAS eliminated the use of the #Patujú symbol representing the indigenous peoples of Santa Cruz. Rather, Lucho Arce incorporated that symbol into the presidential sash, along with the Wiphala, and plurinationality has finally returned to Bolivia.
They falsely claimed that MAS eliminated the requirements for a 2/3 majority in the Plurinational Assembly to pass certain laws. Rather, it eliminated the need for a two thirds majority when dealing specifically with promoting and demoting members of the Armed Forces and police.
As well as the ability to initiate legal processes against officers involved in the massacres in Sacaba and Senkata. @RiosdePie effectively campaigns for impunity for crimes against humanity committed by the armed forces under the @JeanineAnez regime.

From July through September 2019, it ran the intense social media campaign, #SOSBolivia, in order to implicate the presidency of Evo Morales in the wildfires that raged in the region of Chiquitania in Santa Cruz.

Strangely, despite their “environmentalist” outlook, the group has been almost completely absent in any efforts to contain the mass forest fires that raged across Santa Cruz throughout 2020 (even bigger than the ones in 2019).

The group itself is led by Jhanisse Vaca Daza, a graduate of the Harvard Kennedy School, whose alumni also include individuals like Venezuelan far-right coup leader Leopoldo Lopez (pictured with @jguaido) and the neoliberal economist Ricardo Hausmann (pictured with George Sorros)
Daza’s resume, however, is more impressive than her academic history. The organizations that she has worked for include the Human Rights Foundation (founded by the libertarian cousin of Leopoldo Lopez, Thor Halvorssen).
She has also been part of the National Endowment for Democracy–funded Center for Applied Non-Violent Action and Strategies (CANVAS) and most prominent of all, the Atlas network.
The Atlas network is comprised of libertarian and far-right political movements and leaders from around the world and has been linked to supporting right-wing regimes, as in Bolivia, or establishing libertarian think tanks across the continent, and more theintercept.com/2017/08/09/atl…
According to the interview conducted with @JulianMaciasT, the Atlas Network as also attempted to intervene in electoral processes on the side of the far right, as in the Chilean national plebiscite of October 25, 2020.

One of the organization’s most prominent backers and funders is Spain’s former premier, José María Aznar, at the center of that country’s post-Francoite right. Another prominent member of the network is @tutoquiroga - Bolivia's former neoliberal president (2001-2002)
Daza also became one of the key spokespeople for the coup process in Bolivia, appearing during the December 14 OAS meeting, together with @tutoquiroga, and dismissing the existence of a coup in Bolivia or any massacres that took place during November 2019.
The OAS has been used as a platform of @Santi_ABASCAL , the Vox leader, as an attempt to launch a new far-right international federation - Foro de Madrid, allegedely in order to counter the influence of Foro de Sao Paulo.

Both Vaca Daza and Abascal, along Bolivia's far-right ex-civic leader Luis Fernando Camacho, have enjoyed ample support and recognition on the part of OAS secretary, @Almagro_OEA2015, who has been considered responsible for the November 2019 coup and the massacres in Bolivia.
