Ironically, many of the people calling this tweet privileged are the same ones who fight against school choice & support teachers unions, both of which actively work against underprivileged students...
My stance is: every parent, regardless of socioeconomic status, should have options in their child’s education. School choice programs that allow $ to follow the child rather than funding institutions create competition between schools that incentivizes better spending & teaching
In some cases, the local public school may very well be the best option for their child. But if not, they should have the freedom & funds to go elsewhere. Teachers unions fight against this, bc, like most left wing institutions, they don’t like competition or accountability.
They exist for themselves & their own power. The well-being of kids & educators is low on their priority list, while shielding incompetent & often abusive teachers so they can continue to receive their dues & fund non-education related liberal policies and programs, is high.
Would I like the corrupt education system, which increasingly indoctrinates kids w/ perverted views of history, morality & sex, die a swift death to be rebuilt into something better for both teachers & students? Yes. But I know some parents still have to use what’s now available.
It’s my preference that the state remove itself entirely from kids’ education. And if parents have the option to go get out of pub ed, I encourage it. BUT, for those who feel that they can’t, I simply want them to have options. Now, millions don’t thanks to anti-school choicers
It should be noted, though, that of the hundreds of parents I’ve talked to who pursued private, charter or homeschool, none of them are rich. Some are single parents. Some making less than $40K a year. They make it work, & all would say it’s worth the sacrifice.
I recommend reading the work of @DeAngelisCorey & Rebecca Friedrichs, who have both taught me a LOT about the education system. Neither are anti-pub ed, but they understand the problems with our system & fight for better.

Read your piece, and I wish you would have consulted with a Christian pro-lifer before writing it, because there are some glaring misunderstandings. Here to help:

1) "The Bible never directly discusses abortion:" Abortion is murder. The biblical command against murder is clear.
2) "[Exodus 21:22] suggests that the Bible treats a fetal life as less than a human life:" No, it doesn't. The passage says that unintentionally causing a woman requires a fine. That's because it's manslaughter, which God views/punishes differently than murder (Ex. 21:13)
Furthermore, you distinguishing "human life" from "fetal life" is unscientific nonsense. Whether or not you believe fetuses have inherent value, they are human beings. That's a biological fact.

I have tried very hard to sincerely understand how someone who identifies as a Christian conservative can vote for Joe Biden. Ive asked, Ive read, Ive engaged. I am not exaggerating when I tell you I have gotten nothing close to a coherent reason.
If you don’t vote for Trump as a Christian conservative, ok, I get it. We are not in total agreement, but I understand. I cannot for the life of me understand how a Christian conservative can vote Biden. It defies all reasoning.
They all insist they’re not voting on emotion. They care about abortion. They believe in religious liberty. But they still think Biden will unify and lead us well. I don’t doubt their sincerity, so I have to assume they are simply grossly misinformed.

If Biden were a Republican, every demeaning comment he’s made about black people would be a major story. The disparate impact of his crime bill would be the subject of 1,000 op-eds. The name “Tara Reade” would be uttered in every news segment.
His touchiness toward girls would be the cause of feminist protests. His inability to finish a thought would be disqualifying. His eulogy for a former KKK member would be playing on loop. His proven lies & plagiarism over his 47 year political career would be detailed in full.
We wouldn’t be talking about anything but Hunter Biden, and whether or not Joe’s foreign policy with nations like China can be bought. He’d be asked why he & the Obama admin put “kids in cages” at the border & deported an unprecedented number of illegal immigrants.

If you are aiming for “racial reconciliation,” Christians, intersectionality, Critical Race Theory and Liberation Theology will not get you there. Their purpose is to deconstruct & divide, but they can never build up & bring together.
How do you know your church is preaching these things? If the teaching assigns guilt & innocence, responsibility & victimhood, collectively based on skin color. If repentance is only demanded based on race. If “justice” is defined as the world defines it rather than how God does.
If Jesus is characterized as a social revolutionary rather than a savior with a revolutionary gospel that frees both the societal oppressor & the societally oppressed from sin. If your pastor simply repeats mainstream narratives about systemic racism rather than the facts.

For every Dem who believes Trump supporters are dangerous, I promise I believe just as strongly (if not more) that the policies you support are dangerous. But, unlike so many Dems I’ve seen talking abut Trump voters, I don’t “lose all respect” for you for voting for Biden...
I would still welcome you into my home and share a meal with you. I don’t assume you’re a bad parent or that you hate people. I don’t think you should be shunned from society, harassed, or shamed. I think you are wrong, and that your policy positions are seriously harmful...
But I don’t hate you. I don’t think you’re stupid. I just think you’re wrong. And I am wrong a lot too. And, as a Christian, I am in no position to “shun” you, because God in Christ chose not to shun me, even though He had every right to.

Marxism IS unbiblical— Marx himself knew as much. Capitalism isn’t an ideology. It describes what naturally happens when people are free to provide for themselves. The Bible protects property rights (thou shall not steal, thou shall not covet); Marxism does not.
“Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need.” Ephesians 4:28 You work, you make a profit, you voluntarily share it.
“If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat. For we hear that some among you walk in idleness, not busy at work, but busybodies. Now such persons we command and encourage in the Lord Jesus Christ to do their work quietly and to earn their own living.” 2 Thess
