Today @GovEvers and @SpeakerVos both said they want to work on COVID-19 legislation, but it's clear they aren't near a deal yet.
Even if they reach an agreement -- and that's a big if -- they could have major trouble in the state Senate.
The incoming Senate president, @SenatorKapenga, told me he didn’t see any need for the Legislature to act.
“At this point, I haven’t seen anything that I’m real excited about,” he said.
He said he didn’t support Vos’ call for increasing contact tracing.
“I’m not on the same page,” Kapenga said. “I don’t think I would add funding to that.”
That's true even if federal money is used, he said.
"It's still taxpayer money."
Kapenga said he didn’t like some of the main provisions of Evers’ legislation, such as banning evictions and foreclosures and continuing to suspend the waiting period to receive unemployment benefits.
“I’m not real keen on that stuff,” he said.
Kapenga said he was worried Evers’ mask requirement and other COVID-19-related policies were hurting the state’s economy.
“You’ve got people I think who are very scared right now and that’s part of the problem out there. There’s a lot of fear,” Kapenga said.
Sen. @chriskapenga: “I don’t think it’s a good idea for (@GovEvers) to be what I consider fear mongering. I think it’s OK to have a healthy respect for what’s going on with COVID and I think people can make their own decisions on that.”

Republicans have been complaining about machines made by Dominion Voting Systems, but those machines are not used in the counties that Trump selected for recounts in Wisconsin.
Dane and Milwaukee counties use machines by Elections Systems & Software.
In fact, Trump himself tonight criticized Dominion on Twitter... but he didn't ask for a recount in the Wisconsin counties that use those machines.
.@SenRonJohnson answers reporters’ questions ahead of Trump’s rally in Janesville.
Johnson, who recently came out of quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19, said he generally doesn't wear a mask when he is outdoors. He said the stiff wind would help prevent infections during Trump's rally.
"I don't think this is particularly dangerous at all," Johnson said.
In a @wispolitics forum, @SenatorRoth says Republicans may hold a lame-duck session to pass a prescription benefit management bill as well as other unspecified legislation.
He doesn't say whether they would vote down the mask requirement, as @Vanwanggaard says they will.
The group lobbies the Legislature on numerous issues, including ones not related to voting, and has taken liberal stances on legislation related to tax cuts, school vouchers, abortion and environmental issues.

State Sen. @Vanwanggaard says if the court case on ending @GovEvers' mask requirement doesn't go their way, Wisconsin Republicans will come into session soon after the Nov. 3 election to end the mandate.
Wanggaard said he would oppose a mask mandate under any circumstance, even if the COVID-19 outbreak grew 10 times worse.
