I'm live tweeting the Georgia Sec of State news conference with @GabrielSterling in this thread:
4,968,000 ballots hand audited. Tens of thousands left.

12,781 margin now - Biden leads Georgia
112 counties have are either zero discrepancies or single digits.
13 counties have teens of votes different from original count.
Loose quote from @GabrielSterling "If Trump is frustrated, he's gaining in the count." He added, imagine if Biden had been gaining.
Georgia Sec of State's @GabrielSterling addressed concerns raised by @DavidShafer and GA GOP about an audit error in DeKalb County. Said that this is pre-certification and, if true, it was caught in the audit & doesn't change the outcome. Said the courts are available.
Sec of State has received overwhelming complaints including one against @GabrielSterling for saying something during one of these news conferences. Receiving the complaints is like "drinking from a firehose," Gabe said.
"Humans are going to make mistakes," Gabriel Sterling said referencing fixed DeKalb issue that may have added a zero to an audit count. He said it would have been caught anyway. "Non-event, non-issue" and @GabrielSterling's longtime friend @DavidShafer is "stirring the pot."
58 Georgia counties have reported zero discrepancies so far in the audit.
President Trump's tweets complaining about fraudulent counts in Georgia are, "ironic because he has actually gained votes in this process." - Republican @GabrielSterling with the Georgia Secretary of State's Office.
DeKalb issue involved about a 9,000-vote error in the audit. It was caught because the batch was 1,000 votes or so, but the total was 10,000 votes on the tally sheet and they knew they had to go back and check. NOT part of the original count, and not part of final count.
Four Georgia counties, total, have discovered additional ballots during the audit. ALL races voted on those ballots will be added to the count in the final numbers when the Sec. of State certifies.
"We do a pretty good job of removing dead people from the rolls in this state." @GabrielSterling with Republican- led Georgia Secretary of State Office referencing the Trump campaign's re-stated claims of dead voters that we debunked.
#BREAKING Joe Biden wins Georgia after hand-count audit of five million ballots. Here are the final, post-audit numbers to be certified by Sec of State on Friday:
Biden wins by 12,284 votes
#BREAKING Georgia presidential election audit is COMPLETE and the result is confirmed:
Joe Biden will be certified Friday by the Georgia Secretary of State as the winner of Georgia's 16 electoral votes. sos.ga.gov/index.php/elec…
I'm going through the numbers and will post my analysis ASAP
The final margin to be certified is a Biden win of 12,284 votes in Georgia.
The numbers show a 0.0099% deviation in margin between the original count and the audit.
Rudy Giuliani doesn't understand how signature-matching works under Georgia law. Signatures are verified BEFORE ballots are counted. They cannot be checked again in a recount under GA constitution that protects secrecy of a voter's identity. Ballot is detached after verification.
Here's why the actual votes of Georgia citizens are secret under the GA constitution: "Voters cast their ballots in secret so that no political party or candidate can ever intimidate nor threaten a voter into changing his or her vote," Sec. Brad Raffensperger
Because there were vote-buying schemes decades ago. The person paying would check to verify the person followed through to cast the purchased vote. So GA voters amended their constitution to make all votes secret. The signatures are verified first, then unmarried from the ballot.
DeKalb County, Georgia has released a statement questioning State Republican Chair @DavidShafer's account of a 'vote error.' Full statement below. 1/5
"This morning a serious allegation about a '9,626 vote error in the DeKalb County hand count' was made on social media by David Shafer, chairman of the Georgia Republican Party. I immediately conducted a preliminary inquiry into the accuracy of his unsubstantiated tweet."

"Below, I share the results of my inquiry.
DeKalb County Voter Registration and Elections officials have not verified the allegation in the tweet by Chairman Shafer, that a 'vote error' occurred during the state-mandated risk-limiting audit in DeKalb."

The Georgia Republican party & @DavidShafer have given us a sworn affidavit that the DeKalb hand-recount would have been off by 10,000+ plus votes if their observer did not insist they recount a box. This does not currently change the results, but the audit is ongoing.

Georgia's constitution makes votes secret, so you cannot track a vote back to a voter in an audit. Once election officials verify a signature, an absentee ballot becomes essentially anonymous. The good news is that signatures are verified at every step before this.
1/3
So there is no way to do signature verification on absentee ballots again during an audit or recount. Once the votes are determined to be valid by officials (disputes handled by 1 R, 1 D, and one staffer), they're recounted or audited as valid going forward.

Georgia's signature rejection rates are not lower -- they're unchanged. Overall ballot rejection rates are indeed lower. Why? Because the vast majority of rejections in 2018 were for ballots showing up late. A lower percentage made that mistake in the 2020 presidential race.
