NEW: DOJ’s watchdog knocks Trump administration for retreating from police reform and calls for “urgent” and “swift” action to improve community trust in law enforcement, one of “the most pressing challenges” DOJ is facing. huffpost.com/entry/doj-trum…
DOJ watchdog says the Trump administration "has not fully effectuated" the tools it has to improve policing and that DOJ should use "all available tools to address these issues to the fullest extent practicable.” huffpost.com/entry/doj-trum…
"The Department’s efficacy as guardian of the rule of law depends on public confidence that justice is being administered fairly and impartially. Accountability and transparency are critical to building public trust and legitimacy." huffpost.com/entry/doj-trum…
This may be written in the dispassionate tone of an inspector general, but it’s pretty significant. They put erosion of trust in law enforcement at the top of their list of DOJ challenges. They even named George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery. huffpost.com/entry/doj-trum…
Sure, they toss the outgoing attorney general a bone by quoting one thing he said once, but also call out the Trump DOJ for cutting back on pattern-or-practice probes. huffpost.com/entry/doj-trum…
They also call out the Trump DOJ for what they did to the Obama administration’s Collaborative Reform Initiative, which the Trump administration effectively killed and rebranded as CRI-TAC. huffpost.com/entry/trump-do…

"Francis critiqued the 'overzealous morality' of a Roman Catholic Church that denounced pleasure in the past, calling it a 'wrong interpretation of the Christian message.’” huffpost.com/entry/pope-fra…
Covering up the venial sin with the mortal sin, smh.
"DeFoor, who is Black, will be sworn in in January as the state's first elected 'row officer’ of color.” phillytrib.com/news/elections…
So in addition to trying to disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of voters who are disproportionately people of color, the Trump campaign is calling into question the election of the first Black man to hold executive office in Pa. And he's a Republican! huffpost.com/entry/rudy-giu…
Whoa. Shawn Parcells assisted in an autopsy commissioned by Michael Brown’s family, and was the subject of this CNN report, which reported that he once tried to hand a human brain in a bucket to a lawyer during a deposition: edition.cnn.com/2014/11/26/hea…
“...Parcells falsely led clients to believe they would receive an autopsy report prepared by a pathologist. In fact, in most of the cases, no pathologist was involved in the work on the autopsies.”
"Ultimately, Plaintiffs will seek the remedy of Trump being declared the winner of the legal votes cast in Pennsylvania in the 2020 General Election, and, thus, the recipient of Pennsylvania’s electors.”
I say this with sincerity: I would legitimately be extremely interested in a @JRubinBlogger post revisiting her coverage of the New Black Panther Party kerfuffle, given the views she now expresses.
If @JRubinBlogger has written about it, I’ve missed it. But as someone who read her coverage of the New Black Panther Party case extremely closely, I’m totally fascinated by this evolution and her talk about the GOP’s exploitation of white grievance politics.
