12 Not So Surprising Hacks On How to Grow Your Newsletter

// A THREAD // Image
Growing a newsletter is a great idea for a couple of reasons.

But it's not as easy as it may seem.

Here are some ways how to put your newsletter's growth on steroids. Image
1. Email footer.

If you don't use your email for straight work purposes give the link to your newsletter to your email signature.

PS. If your email provider can't generate the HTML code of the minimalistic sign-up form put there a link. Image
2. Create a post with your lead magnet for social sites.

Create posts featuring your lead magnet and puts it on the sites.

3. Content updates on your blog posts.

Let's say you have a blog article.

You can insert there a one-line sign-up form saying that you will send

- a PDF checklist
- Additional tips
- Short course on the topic

if the person subscribes. Image
5. Offline.

1. Tell people you have a newsletter
2. Ask them if they're interested
3. Add them there manually

Why?

1 subscriber = $1/month - rule of thumb

Now imagine adding there 25 every month... Image
7. Make some of your content "gated".

What does it mean?

Your visitors won't be able to see e.g. some additional content before they give you their email address.

It may be a great strategy but make sure you use it carefully (don't be too pushy). Image
8. You can do the quiz and offer people to email them the results. Image
9. Social Use social media wisely.

- Pin with your lead magnet,
- Answering questions on Quora/Reddit regarding your lead magnet
- Add sign-up button on Facebook Page
- Instagram BIO Image
10. Add an opt-in form on your website's footer and about page. Image
11. Use testimonials even for your newsletter.

If people like it ask them if they wouldn't mind sharing a sentence or two with others.

Social proof is still the KING. Image
12. Give a preview of your newsletter.

I put the archive on the last issues on my website freedomdesigner.io/newsletter/

So the email can live even once it's sent. Image

It's the builder I use to build all my sites.

It's intuitive, nice, and very customizable.

Why?

A nice way and super easy way how to integrate Google Analytics on your website.

How To Make a Recurring Income as a Web Designer

// A THREAD // Image
This is the question I get a lot, how to make a recurring income as a web designer?

In other words: how to make a recurring income instead of one time sell.

Here are some of my most favorite ones. Image
1. Hosting and domain renewing

This one is the most straightforward one.

For the customers, it's usually painful to keep track of domain registration and hosting and if you offer them a maintenance fee they most probably won't refuse. Image

Twitter launched a new feature: Fleets.

What are they and how to take advantage?

// A THREAD // Image
What are they?

Fleets are tweets that disappear after 24 hours.

Basically, they're just a "copy" of Instagram/Snapchat stories. Image
Why?

According to the designer's it should decrease the pressure on users who find the tweeting too public, permanent, and with too much pressure to like/retweets hunting. Image

How to Guerilla Test Your Website

// A THREAD // Image
If you don't test, you guess.

Simple.

And you don't want to guess when comes to important things and more importantly when you don't have to guess.

But maybe you don't have

- Money
- Experience
- Don't know how to do it

Np, I will show you. Image
"Testing" may sound really scientific, complicated, and expensive.

The opposite is true.

Ask yourself: What’s the purpose of the test?

The purpose of the test of your website is to see how REAL PEOPLE interact with your website
- whether it works as expected.

That’s it. Image

Hollywood Model: What Is It And How to Take Advantage

// A THREAD // Image
It refers to the way how professionals in Hollywood operate.

Basically, they're a bunch of independent professionals, and when the project occurs they invite each other to collaborate on it.

Then they work like crazy for a couple of months.

Then get $ and their freedom back. Image
Why should you care about how the dudes in Hollywood work?

Because I believe it's a future of work.

A bunch of (more or less) independent professionals who collaborate together on projects. Image
