The San Diego County Democratic Party has voted by a 79% majority of it's Central Committee to support @CD4Monica / @Monica4PrezSD to be the next San Diego City Council President and we would like to share with you why, a thread. 1/12
First it is important to note that both @CD4Monica and @CMJenCampbell are members in good standing of our Party so we are simply going to share our understanding of the differences and why we believe @Monica4PrezSD is the way to go. 2/12
First: In the public comment portion 91.4% of the comments were in support of @Monica4PrezSD only 8.6% of the comments expressed that the Party should remain neutral. No one indicated a support for another candidate. This suggests broad community support for @CD4Monica 3/12
Second: 79.2% of our Central Committee voted to support the resolution in favor of the @Monica4PrezSD effort. This suggests broad Democratic support for @CD4Monica 4/12
It is also important to not that the only one who has public commitments from Council Members for the position of San Diego City Council President is @Monica4PrezSD / @CD4Monica 7/12
Our Chairman @willrk787 had this to say about the @Monica4PrezSD: “We believe that @CD4Monica will do a wonderful job. #BlackLivesMatter and#Blackleadershipmatters. We encourage councilmembers to stand with our Party and elect her San Diego’s next City Council President” 10/12
There are some who believe this decision should be made behind closed doors w/o the "outside influence" of community orgs. Our Party disagrees, no voice should be considered an "outside influence" when the decision affects all of us. 11/12 @CD4Monica@Monica4PrezSD
