@DeoAkiiki: UPDF will carry out extensive pre-emptive and decisive operations to deal with the planned and premeditated designs of criminal minded elements in the entire Kampala metropolitan area and indeed in the entire country #SecurityUG
@DeoAkiiki: The UPDF commiserates with the families of those innocent Ugandans who have lost their lives in the senseless incursions which would have been otherwise avoided if everyone played his or her role responsibly #SecurityUG
@DeoAkiiki: This must not happen again during or after this electioneering period. We shall take a reinforced posture across the districts of Kampala, Mukono, Wakiso, Entebbe and its environs to enable us to do a mobile thrust in and outside of the city #SecurityUG
@DeoAkiiki: We shall respond and react quickly and effectively to any incident of criminality across levels #SecurityUG
@DeoAkiiki: All roads feeding into the city shall jointly be manned while outside forces provide security to all highways to ensure that no individual or groups disrupt the normal flow of traffic and business #SecurityUG
@DeoAkiiki: All our deployments across the country are on a preemptive posture to disable and dismantle any criminal-minded cell and act decisively to ensure security and normalcy in their area of responsibility #SecurityUG
@DeoAkiiki: Effective yesterday midnight robust reinforced deployment to protect our critical infrastructure and installations is being affected and the public is hereby informed not to do any activity close or within such environs #SecurityUG
@DeoAkiiki: These may include but not limited to power stations, fuel reserves and other critical public use infrastructures and services #SecurityUG
@DeoAkiiki: We shall jointly pursue the already identified culpable leaders of these criminal groups whose status shall be determined by security depending on the gravity of their already unearthed plans #SecurityUG
@DeoAkiiki: Surveillance mechanisms have been put in place to nip in the bud all evil plans by the already identified groups and individuals bent to met chaos to Ugandans #SecurityUG
@DeoAkiiki: UPDF and its auxiliary forces shall support the police to now strictly enforce the curfew. The public is prior warned not to be on roads after 2100hrs unless you are authorized to #SecurityUG
@DeoAkiiki: We call upon Ugandans to corporate with security to isolate a few criminal-minded people to keep our country safe and secure. Elections will come and go but Uganda will remain #SecurityUG
@DeoAkiiki: No amount of pressure or influence whether internal or external should divert us from protecting our motherland #SecurityUG
@FredEnanga1 Spokesperson @PoliceUg: We would like to inform the public that a total of 28 people have died following the violent political demonstrations, in multiple areas since 18.11.2020 #SecurityUG
@FredEnanga1: The confrontations began after the arrest of Hon. Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert, at Luuka Ssaza grounds, Luuka District, due to his continued blatant disregard of the @UgandaEC guidelines #SecurityUG
@FredEnanga1: Which were further escalated, after bloggers posted FAKE NEWS that he had been killed. The NUP cell at Kisekka market began the protests with the burning of tyres, and the protests spread to some other areas #SecurityUG
@FredEnanga1: All indicators reveal that these events were not just impromptu actions #SecurityUG
@FredEnanga1: But part of a loosely coordinated campaign by the political group in the areas of Central Region, Kampala Metropolitan (Kawempe, Rubaga, Makindye, Nakawa, Kira Municipality and Wakiso, Greater Masaka, Busoga and Elgon #SecurityUG
@FredEnanga1: A total of 375 suspects were arrested, some of whom appeared in court on the 19.11.2020, while others are expected to appear today, including the Hon. Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert #SecurityUG
@FredEnanga1: Most of the arrests involved suspects from the KMP area, where the NUP cells were mostly created, followed by Masaka and Mityana; while the remaining group of suspects were from Busoga and Mbale respectively #SecurityUG
@FredEnanga1: Several exhibits including bows and arrows, piles of stocked tyres, bottles, drums of fuel, and evidence of mobile money transactions funding the rioters #SecurityUG
@FredEnanga1: The violent demonstrations were being coordinated by a group of three hundred (300) ring leaders who were actively coordinating the distribution of tyres to their flashpoints and hotspots, using Motor vehicles and Boda bodas #SecurityUG
@FredEnanga1: Some of the ring leaders have been arrested and we are still seeking other ring leaders (1/2) #SecurityUG
@FredEnanga1: Notably among them (ring leaders) are the following;
1. Malingolingo Nkedi – contesting for councillorship in Nansana Municipality.
2. Machete Ashraf, the commander freedom bodabodas who are about 50 in number #SecurityUG (2/
Riot ringleaders

3. Nusfa Nakato, a candidate for councilor seat at KCCA
4. Kulya Saul – KCCA councilor Kawempe North
5. Rodha alias Maama Kampala mobilizer for NUP cells in Bwaise and Kyebando indusial area #SecurityUG (3/
6. Bagonza Thomas, the NUP candidate for councilor seat Bwaise II, in Kawempe
7. Mathais Walukagga, mobilizing in Busoga Region #SecurityUG
@FredEnanga1: We also have other ring leaders, who were captured on CCTV cameras and other videos uploaded on social media and widely circulated #SecurityUG
@FredEnanga1: Therefore, what we have seen in the last two days i.e., the violence, vandalism looting, intimidation and threats, are crimes that were being committed targeting people who are not pro-NUP and also against people’s property #SecurityUG
@FredEnanga1: Now this is something that we shall not tolerate.
As you all know, the Joint Task Force respects freedom of assembly and people’s democratic rights, but will NOT allow for violent demonstrators & criminal opportunists to disrupt the peaceful environment #SecurityUG
@FredEnanga1: We have had over the years. We have stepped up presence of our security personnel and minimized the use of teargas which is indiscriminate in nature and resorted to the use of batons which are more specific #SecurityUG
@FredEnanga1: The task team of the investigators continues to pursue investigative leads and also monitor online hate speech related to the violet demonstrations #SecurityUG
@FredEnanga1: Therefore, those who continue to encourage rioting and threaten individuals on account of their tribes and beliefs etc, across Facebook posts, Twitter, Instagram and Whatsapp will be attended to by our cybercrime teams #SecurityUG
@FredEnanga1: It’s clear that the organized attacks were aided by social media to sow discord of hatred in society and further instigated by the ring leaders which fitted the pattern that some of the NUP leaders and supporters want chaos #SecurityUG
NOW: The Minister of Security, Gen. Elly Tumwine addressing a press conference on the prevailing security situation in the country.
