These figures were shared alongside a documentary following our Service, where crews were shown responding to a person who had taken their own life. A paramedic reflected on their personal experience of a perception of responding to more suicides over the past 20 years.
The figures only relate to data from 999 calls LAS received.
The figures are from incidents we attended and information that was recorded from the 999 call.
This means the figures include calls regarding attempted suicides and those who have reported they have or had suicidal thoughts.
These figures therefore should not be seen as statistics on the number of people who have taken their own life.
