Here's a Politico article from 2008 about Obama's post-election transition team fundraising that just completely casually lists off the post-election transition team fundraising of every president going back to 1992.

There are people across Twitter right now who are PAID to write about this shit who are outraged and shocked that Joe Biden is doing exactly what every president-elect has done for at least the past thirty years.

You can criticize the practice itself (there's someone in the article that does exactly that) but treating this as something new, unusual, or uniquely shameful on Biden's part is just ignorant.

Alright as far as I can tell this is mostly still only going around in "friendly" circles but I know its going elsewhere as well and a couple of extremely-predictable goalpost-moving replies are starting to surface.

I don't intend to engage with them directly for the most part and I would mostly suggest no one else does, either. There's no dialogue to be had there, you're wasting your time. And I don't want to get in some personal tiff with some other random nobody.

That said I do have one general comment that would serve as a reply to a bunch of them:

There's a bunch of these along the lines of "That's totally different those previous presidents were raising money off of anonymous Big Money Donors behind closed doors whereas Biden is making a public request of Small Money Donors"

If you are making some variation on that argument I *implore* you to slow down and take a look at what you are saying.

I know you're trying to win an argument on the internet but several of you are literally arguing that it would be better, more moral even, for Biden to further indebt himself to billionaires and Wall Street.

For the love of God do not make *that* your argument. Please.

Also leave Traister alone. If she for some reason doesn't mute her own threads as a matter of good practice then she's already seen this.

It's fucked up that of all the semi-prominent to prominent people who have stepped in it today the only one people are repeatedly tagging in and demanding answers from is the feminist woman.
