Shall I tell you what happens when a bully isn't dealt with in the workplace? They thrive. They soon feel invincible. They realise that their seniors cannot appropriately punish their behaviour & there is no repercussions for their actions.
Their bullying continues. People who challenge their behaviour are ignored & given worse treatment by the bully. People get scared & tolerate inappropriate behaviour because they see that management don't challenge or deal with this behaviour.
Moral drops. People lose respect in their management. People come to work in tears & in fits of anxiety because they know they have to face this person. Day after day. People go off sick or leave. All because a bully isn't dealt with.
If we are told that this kind of behaviour isn't to be tolerated in this day & age, and we are to believe it, Priti Patel should have been sacked. What a powerful message this would have sent out.
Instead, we are shown yet again that despite the message, bullies are tolerated & prosper, while their victims are ignored or forced out.
I've lived through a situation like this for over 10 years, & I've seen the damage it's done to my workplace, myself & people around me.
Sorry, just had to get that out. I know how hard it is to complain about bullies, but please use your voice even if you feel it is ignored. DON'T TOLERATE BULLIES.
