Liz Cheney is now telling Donald Trump to move aside. No surprise. The longer he pretends he's contesting the election for cash, the more he gets in the way of other Republicans who are running their own evil schemes. They were always going to selfishly turn on Trump in the end.
It's never about whether a Republican will grow a conscience or a spine. Those concepts simply do not exist on the Republican side. It was always a question of at what point a defeated Trump would begin to get in the way of their own corrupt ambitions.
The Republicans are each going to get there at different times, because they each have different math about how Trump's squatting act is impacting their own corrupt schemes. But they were never going to remain personally loyal to him. That concept doesn't exist in the GOP either.
If you're sitting around lamenting how the Republicans don't have a "spine" or whatever, then you're naively misunderstanding what this is. Think of the GOP as the mafia. A bunch of hardened criminals trying to decide whether to back each other or metaphorically whack each other.

By leaking his Tony Blinken pick for Secretary of State tonight, Joe Biden has made sure to put a dent in Trump's attempt at hijacking tomorrow's news cycle with whatever dead-end Michigan stunt he's planning. Biden is simply savvier at this stuff than Trump is.
GOP Senator Lisa Murkowski is now calling for Trump to give up and transition to Biden. She gets zero points for being this late. But it’s the latest reminder that the longer Trump drags this out, the less leverage he has, and the more republicans are going to selfishly dunk him.

The media is tripping over itself to push bad takes today. It’s a reminder that the media is not your friend, it doesn’t exist to inform you, it exists to drum up narratives that will give it the most ratings and page views, and you have to learn how to filter out their bullshit.
The media is desperate to push the fantasy that Trump will run in 2024, so it can spend the next year drumming up ratings by making you afraid of his comeback. But even if Trump announces a 2024 campaign now, it’ll just be a cash grab; Trump will be in prison long before 2024.
Trump knows this, the media knows this, and they’re counting on you not knowing it, so they can scare you into staying tuned in. If you take these media narratives at face value, you’ll always be confused about what’s really going on, and you’ll never be useful as an activist.
