Realizing I’m starting to talk about NY’s East Village in the 90s the way ppl talked about SF’s Haight Ashbury when I was a kid.
I lived in the East Village twice—97 to 99 and again 2014 to 2019, and though quite changed, it was still magical the second time around...and in COVID times, it’s got a whole new realm of magic around it, with outdoor eating and weird, spontaneous outside art/performance
When I was a script PA & researcher for Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update, circa 1999. @iamcolinquinn was Update host. Worked at SNL 1999 to 2001. There was ONE internet connection in the SNL office. Tina Fey was head writer but not on camera, so not a celebrity.
