The Power of First Principles Thinking

a thread
@JamesClear & an excerpt Aristotle define it as

"a basic assumption that cannot be deduced any further. Over two thousand years ago, Aristotle defined a first principle as “the first basis from which a thing is known.”"
What is it exactly?

It is basically thinking from the ground up. It is that piece of information that cannot be proven wrong or be falsified. They can be applied anywhere.

They are the building blocks of life.
Everything we know, do & observe is a product of First Principles Thinking.
Why is it even important?

The biggest problem with most of us is that we delegate important decisions & choices to others. One of those important choices also include "thinking for ourselves".

We need to start thinking for ourselves and start forming our own opinions.
First Principles Thinking makes you feel discomfort and gives you the power to think that you should have never lost in the first place
Who validates it?

Aristotle, Elon Musk, Johannes Gutenberg, John Boyd, and the list goes on.

You don't need more than these 4 names to validate this approach.
How & Where should you start?

I am not the best person for this because I have just started but @rgxai & @Ayushwrites have developed a fantastic guide for you to get started.

Link to the guide: fpt.guide
Let me know what you think about this & when you plan on starting to take this approach.

Why Compounding is hard to understand for the human brain🧠

Linear thinking in a Non-Linear World

Our brain works and thinks in linear pattern whereas everything that happens around us and inside us happens exponentially.

It is not very intuitive for us to think in exponential forms than it is to think in linear forms.
Try it out for yourself.

We interpret linear equations much better than non linear ones.

Some people call it the LINEAR BIAS

The failure of @DailymotionUSA

The Poor Man's @YouTube

a thread🧵
I have only been to Dailymotion only a couple of times in my 10 years of using the Internet & probably you have a similar story too. We have all gone to YouTube for creating, publishing, and viewing videos. There are reasons for this.
1. Failed to Monetize

Dailymotion failed to monetize its content for itself and the creators. They could not implement proper ways to monetize the content that's been created and out of many reasons one of them is the policy or the tolerance to inappropriate content.

Why Cricket🏏 is not our national🇮🇳 sport

 a thread🧵
National sports/games are decided at the time of Independence.

Hockey🏑 was the most popular game at that time. It is that sport that brought us respect, fame & popularity as a country. It is what put us on the map in terms of Sporting events.
India is also one of the countries where Hockey originated and it made(&still makes)sense to have a sport that is born in the country than to replace it with a sport which is from a different region.

Basically, it's sticking to the roots.

Why Twitter loves threads

a thread
1. Doesn't get too simple or too complex.

Generally, the shorter you frame a sentence, it loses nuance and context which is very specific. People are moving away from binary thinking to a more nuanced pattern. 280 characters are not enough for nuance.
2. Its blog size but not blog size at the same time

The format is very similar to that of a blog sized listicle but its more on point & more credible. (you can access their work just by clicking on their twitter handle)
