the older I get, the longer I live, the more I come to believe that the Vikings were just total assholes.
these are the sorts of musings that come to one's head when reading a dry academic tome about the history of the Vikings on a Saturday morning & even the studiously non-inflammatory tone can't disguise that it's 99% raping, looting, killing, burning, & destroying priceless relics
seriously, these guys were jerks and it's high time someone had the courage to stand up and call them out on it.
The monks and nuns of Lindisfarne, Iona, and Jarrow might beg to differ with this revisionism.

Remember that this is a QAnon supporter. He doesn't even hide it. Then assess his sanity. Set aside the past; the past is dust. He's into QAnon. That's all you need to know.
The most insulting thing to people who think independently and have working brains is the "but muh massive vote fraud" folks saying "Powell and Wood have TRACK RECORDS! You can't question their authority."

The hell I can't. I know up from down, and I know this field.
This is another common arg among QAnon/Powell/Wood supporters and it's risible b/c it always comes from people who have absolutely no idea how litigation works and think it's like Perry Mason or hack TV. You can't just offer "surprise" evidence in court!

Ahoy! @Political_Beats returns with its celebration of Living Colour w/guest @stevesingiser of @DKElections. They are, in the words of @willcollier, "what the '90s SHOULD HAVE sounded like." Big thanks to @vurnt22 and the guys for an incredible career. nationalreview.com/podcasts/polit…
Living Colour is a band that was pretty big as is (the debut sold 2 million!) but should have been even bigger than that. The albums hold up as major artistic statements. @vurnt22 is one of my favorite guitarists, but there were no passengers in this band. A lost classic group.
One of the things that I, @ScotBertram, and @stevesingiser note about Living Colour is how their lyrics (not just by @vurnt22, but also on songs by Glover, Calhoun, and Skillings) have not only NOT dated...they somehow sound more relevant then ever. Remarkable trick.

Here's a random blast from the Eighties past that you'll be happy to hear again. It's only one ill-conceived sax solo away from genuine perfection.
The Motels only ever had two hit songs, but man were they both just magnificent. This sort of postpunk-pop is basically the genre of music I was born to listen to:
I've got a real soft spot for early Eighties postpunk/pop with female vocalists, what can I say.

I despair at the existence of these sorts of people, but you can never give into despair.
BTW, speaking as former DC-area guy, Comet Ping Pong is a pretty good pizza joint, and I have never sold a runaway child into sexual slavery. No, not even once.
BTW, Sidney Powell is clearly either out of her mind or shockingly, appallingly cynical. Choose one. "Maybe she's right!" is not an acceptable answer.

The damage report is finally in for our upcoming episode of @Political_Beats on Living Colour with guest @stevesingiser, and what can I say? I've been stripped bare, left an empty, exhausted shell. Just nothingness; all I have to feel is my loneliness. Song excerpts as follows.
Fight The Fight (live at CBGBs 1991)/Desperate People/Funny Vibe/Glamour Boys/I Want To Know/Broken Hearts/Which Way To America?/Open Letter (To A Landlord)/Cult Of Personality/Funny Vibe/What's Your Favorite Colour?...

In this thread, we shall discuss our favorite science fiction novels that turned us into sci-fi dorks when we were kids. theonion.com/gaywads-dorkwa…
(btw, I love that the dateline for that Onion piece is Rockville, MD...which is exactly where I went to high school)
As for me, my primary influence as a sci-fi reader was my dad (hi dad!) who was himself an O.G. sci-fi dorkwad dating back to the Fifties onward. His basement den had a floor-to-ceiling shelf stocked with two things: sci-fi books and baseball books about the Yankees.
