Surprise! America Is Getting Another Psycho For Secretary Of State

"Blinken is a liberal interventionist who has supported all of the most disgusting acts of US mass military slaughter this millennium, including the Iraq invasion"
caitlinjohnstone.substack.com/p/surprise-ame…
Did you know the US Department of Defense used to be called the Department of War? It would be a much more honest label today for a military which virtually never operates in any way that could be described as defensive. Even better would be the Department of Eternal War.
So in practice the US ended up with two war departments: the DoD and the State Department. Which is why Secretaries of State are so jingoistic and psychopathic now, to the point where some sort of antisocial personality disorder is almost a job requirement for the position.
Bloomberg and The New York Times are reporting that the incoming presidential administration has chosen longtime Biden advisor Tony Blinken for the role of Secretary of State.
Blinken is a liberal interventionist who has supported all of the most disgusting acts of US mass military slaughter this millennium, including the Iraq invasion which killed over a million people. So needless to say he will fly through the confirmation process.
How true can Biden's claim be that he regrets his pivotal role in facilitating the Iraq invasion if he's continued employing the man who advised him about it ever since, and is now appointing him to Secretary of State?

We can expect the next secretary of America's second war department to help the US death machine ramp up world-threatening cold war escalations with China and Russia.

All you really need to know about Tony Blinken has been summed up nicely in this must-see new Behind the Headlines report by @dancohen3000:
Blinken's career has been a pendulum between expanding the US empire and helping corporate power knit itself more deeply into that empire.

Are you excited about that Return to Decency yet?
Forgot to add the obligatory "It was worth it" quote by Madeleine Albright.

MSM Already Helping Next Administration Hide Corruption Under 'Diversity' Banner

There has never been a better time to be a woman, minority or member of the LGBT community who works in the DC establishment and thinks the poor should be made into pet food.

The Times has published an article titled "Could Limiting Corporate Candidates Hurt Biden’s Diversity Push?", for the benefit of all those normal everyday readers who've been lying awake at night wondering if limiting corporate candidates might hurt Biden's diversity push.
NYT cites Paul Thornell of the influential DC lobbying firm Mehlman Castagnetti to warn us of the dangers of imperiling diversity by conceding too much to "the far left".

Australian War Crimes Report Means Get The Fuck Out Of Afghanistan

"There are no 'conditions' which need to be met first. You are the violent extremists in Afghanistan doing the killing and destroying. You are the terrorists. Leave."
caitlinjohnstone.substack.com/p/australian-w…
The much-anticipated report on potential war crimes by the ADF in Afghanistan has been released, recommending 19 current or former soldiers be investigated for up to 39 murders.
Not combat kills. Not accidental kills. Not non-combatants killed by disputable decisions made in the heat of battle. Not civilians killed due to recklessness or carelessness on the part of Australian forces. Murders.

Western propaganda works to decouple imperialism-targeted nations and people from their governments. It's not Syria's government, it's "the Assad regime" with the Syrian people held as separate. It's not China's government, it's "the CCP" with the Chinese people held as separate.
They always work to spin governments the empire doesn't like as these hostile, alien invaders of a nation which has nothing to do with them. They point at it like it's an ugly growth. "Uh-oh, what's that MADURO REGIME doing in Venezuela?? We can lance that for you."
And of course the "anarchists" who suck at thinking always fall for it, because they regard all governments as illegitimate. So they wind up clapping along with US State Department lines, cheering for the downfall of a government in unwitting service of a much bigger government.

What the left can do is get ahead of the game. Take control of the anti-Biden, anti-establishment pushback by leading the charge--sooner, more aggressively, and more compellingly than the far right does.
We already know the American left has the ability to pull this off. The grassroots, populist support for Bernie Sanders during his two primary campaigns has been one of the most energized and inspired forces I've ever witnessed.
The problem with Bernie Twitter is that it only exists for a few months at a time, fizzling out when it becomes clear that their candidate has had the door shut to him and then reluctantly diverted into support for the establishment candidate under the guidance of Bernie himself.

Biden Will Likely Be Worse Than Obama. The Left Must Lead The Backlash, Or The Right Will.

"All US leftists will have any control over is whether this backlash will break to the left, or if it will break to the far right."
caitlinjohnstone.substack.com/p/biden-will-l…
It looks like a safe bet that Joe Biden will be sworn in after successfully campaigning on returning the murderous and oppressive Orwellian US empire back to its pre-Trump "normal".

The problem with this that it's just re-creating the conditions which gave rise to Trump.
Trying to undo the damage of Trump by returning to the conditions which created Trump is like using a time machine to prevent a train wreck, but only going back to one millisecond before the train wreck occurred.

The Best Plants And People Grow From Shit

There are creatures the size of mountains swimming beneath the ice.

There are babies laughing at things you can't see.

That quiet old woman there, sitting in the corner:
she has seen some shit, man.
caitlinjohnstone.substack.com/p/the-best-pla…
The lushest plants have their roots in shit,
and the lushest people, too.

They do not rise above the shit,
their roots dangling like car wash tentacles as they levitate in the air.
They sink into it.
They build their foundation in it.
They do not transcend,
they embody.
And they grow.
They grow above the shit.
They grow into the shit.
They grow of the shit.
