The brain-blasting logic abounds
While I agree there are debates to be had about international law and arming rebel groups in Syria, this is not how I would approach the argument, given, you know, that the wishes of the Syrian government included the mass slaughter of civilians.
I've heard both good and less-good things about Robert Wright, but don't have that much personal experience. That said, this "grading" of Blinken contains some really bizarre logic and some really atrocious misrepresentations of considerations in humanitarian intervention. . . .
Humanitarian intervention is a topic that deserves more ethical care, esp. in progressive circles where, ostensibly, the core consideration is human welfare. Also, the empathy scoring re: foreign leaders is quite peculiar and, in the case of Crimea, reads a bit like apologia.
