The US reported +972 new coronavirus deaths today, bringing the total to 263,687. The 7-day moving average rose to 1,577 per day, its highest level since May 14th.
The US had +172,103 new confirmed COVID-19 cases today, bringing the total to over 12.7 million. The 7-day moving average rose to over 176,000 per day.
There are now almost 5 million active cases in the US.
36 US states had over 1,000 new cases today, of which 13 had over 5,000. California led the pack with over 17,000 cases, followed by Ohio with over 11,000 and Texas with over 10,000.

The US reported +866 new coronavirus deaths today, bringing the total to 262,696. The 7-day moving average continued rising to 1,546 per day.
The US had +136,627 new confirmed COVID-19 cases today, bringing the total to over 12.5 million. The 7-day moving average declined slightly to just below 173,000 per day.
The number of active cases in the US has risen to over 4.8 million.

My thinking is this:
1) Great lengths should be taken to avoid even the slightest suggestion of political interference;
2) Any prosecution should focus on substantive crimes, not procedural ones, nor ones mainly arising from policy;
3) Let states take the lead.
I think there's an open and disturbing question whether you could find a jury of 12 Americans willing to vote to convict Donald Trump of any crime whatsoever, regardless of evidence.
Which is why I'd say focus on the money, and stay away from anything revolving around political differences.

I'm reading this now, to present to my colleagues. I feel like I'm back at Wharton, in the "Funding Investments" class on derivatives trading that I barely understood.
It's all smooth sailing until you get to Chapters 6, 9, and 10.
I mean, I can follow it, but truly understanding and critically evaluating it is the challenge.

Most interesting: where India is.
I mean, we all know India came up and slapped into Asia from the south, which is how the Himalayas formed. But the origin of its geology, alongside Africa and Australia, is the interesting part.
Also, I can't think of two places more dissimilar today than the East Coast the US and the northwest coast of Africa, but they obviously share a common underlying geography.

1. We always over-learn from our mistakes.
2. A lot of people who ooo-ed and ahh-ed over everything China 10 years ago now find it impossible to see China as anything other than a one-dimensional Evil Empire.
3. A lot of people who were overly optimistic about remaking the Middle East in our image are now dismissive of any need for American leadership beyond our borders.

Judge was member of Federalist Society and NRA. Cited Trump team's "strained legal arguments without merit and speculative accusations." Likened their argument to "Frankenstein's Monster" and characterized the requested remedy to disqualify the votes as "unhinged."
"This Court has been unable to find any case in which a plaintiff has sought such a drastic remedy in the contest of an election, in terms of the sheer volume of votes asked to be invalidated ..."
"One might expect that when seeking such a startling outcome, a plaintiff would come formidably armed with compelling legal arguments and factual proof of rampant corruption ..."
