Minnesota just certified its results, confirming that Joe Biden won the state by seven points. Trump inexplicably spent an extraordinary amount of time, money and resources in Minnesota, and still lost badly there. It's a reminder that Trump never had any idea what he was doing.
Trump isn’t just going to pardon all of his henchmen. He doesn’t care about any of them. He’ll pardon the ones he’s afraid will cut a plea deal against him. He won’t pardon the ones where the Fifth Amendment could be a problem. His pardons will be all about him, not about them.
Too many variables for me to go through and try to figure out which henchmen fall into which category. Trump is fairly addled and his lawyers are crap, so he’ll probably guess wrong on a lot of them anyway. But pardoning EVERYONE wouldn’t work out well for him.
If I had to guess: Trump will pardon himself, his family, his henchmen with strong kremlin ties (Flynn, Manafort), and people like Rudy who know where all the bodies are buried. Anyone beyond that, and he’s just creating witnesses compelled to testify against him at his own trial
Joe Biden is now 6.2 million votes ahead of Donald Trump, and still climbing. This election was always a blowout. It was never remotely close. Trump got his ass kicked.
Remember: Trump's pardon spree doesn't mean that he's now suddenly winning. It means he knows he lost, he knows he's screwed, and he's using the last partially effective legal maneuver he's got left. Trump is going to prison and he knows it. It's why he's panicking like this.
Reminder: established precedent makes clear that accepting a pardon is a confession of guilt. If Trump tries to pardon himself, by law he’s confessing to those crimes. Opens him up to civil action accordingly. And his self pardon will likely be thrown out in court anyway.
- Pardons traitor Michael Flynn
- So much for "Law and Order"
- Is Assange next?
- How about Jack The Ripper?
- Pardons aren't magic wands
- This could legally backfire on him
- Trump is going to prison one way or the other
- It's still only 6:30pm
