Here at LA Mayor Eric Garcetti’s house where activists have gathered to protest his being vetted for a position in the Biden cabinet.
About 10 police officers have arrived on scene, just a few minutes after activists arrived.
A neighborhood cat has joined the protest
Just spoke to a neighbor who heard the protest and came to check it out. “I have extreme respect for them,” she said of the protestors. “I wanted to come out and listen to what they had to say.”
Meanwhile according to my Citizen app, the police are requesting backup.
Police ops extend east of the Getty House by about a block, where officers are redirecting traffic.
Police have also blocked off the street one block west of the Getty House.
Theres also a helicopter circling overhead. Overall, there are about 50 people in front of the mayor’s house.
Police are outfitted in their riot gear, and getting into formation across the street from the protest
Here’s the current situation: LAPD chopper circling very low. News chopper above that. About 25 police officers in riot gear. About 50 protesters.
From what I can tell, police have sectioned off all exit routes from the Getty House. Here is another group blocking the south end of Irving.
Police are preparing to move in
Police have moved in, and protesters have dispersed. As the police line formed, another neighbor gave his thoughts. “We just had a Trump rally the same size a few days ago, and there wasn’t this much force...the police make things violent.”
A couple of signs were left behind, which were thoroughly examined.

Here in El Sereno where activists are trying to prevent the eviction of families from vacant homes owned by CalTrans. CHP is stationed outside ~15 properties.
Minutes after the activists wrapped up a press conference at least 50+ CHP officers in riot gear descend on the homes. You can hear the officer try to stop me filming
CHP is using a battering ram to take down the door
BREAKING: @LASheriffDept is having a party at @SassafrasHW on Vine in Hollywood. Acting on a tip, I went to the scene and captured photos of deputies drinking on the street, littering, and no one had on a mask. Bars have been closed under guidance from Gov. Newsom since 7/13
These guys said their names were Chris and Daniel Moreno. They enjoyed some White Claw before littering and heading into the bar.
There's a Daniel Moreno listed as a correctional officer on Transparent California. He makes $138,832.98 annually enforcing the law. Chris Moreno is also listed as a correctional officer, and makes
$207,608.03 annually according to Transparent California. No masks tho.
