*Thread* The Islamist pressure group MEND and the Socialist Worker Party front “Stand Up To Racism” are a fine pairing.

They say they oppose racism. But when it comes to antisemitism, they are part of the problem. So any posturing at this meeting should be rejected. 1/12
Awareness is rising. Earlier this year, Tower Hamlets council refused to host a "Stand Up To Racism” event featuring Glyn Secker, a far left activist who has accused Jewish leaders of being “in the gutter” with “rats” of the far right. 2/12
thejc.com/news/uk/counci…
There’s more to say. This time, about the SWP activist Nahella Ashraf, scheduled to speak at the event this weekend.

In 2018, the antisemitic hardcore, including Chris Williamson and Tony Greenstein, assembled outside Labour’s headquarters to demonstrate against the… 3/12
party’s planned adoption of the IHRA definition of antisemitism. They were in form. A top figure in "Jewish Voice for Labour", the champions of Labour antisemitism, told the Jewish Chronicle Greenstein “is not an antisemite. And no we won’t expel him from our organisation.” 4/12
Enthused by all this, Ashraf posted a video of her fellow SWP activist Rob Ferguson at the demo. Bellowing angrily, Ferguson claimed the IHRA definition would be used to “victimise” people. The hardcore failed – the party did adopt the definition. 5/12
Ashraf too is keen on “Jewish Voice for Labour”. She has said it was “great” to see JVL lament that “allegations of antisemitism, often flimsy or false, have resulted in suspensions and expulsions from the party”. 6/12
Ashraf has also dismissed campaigners against antisemitism in Labour, saying “they are not the touch bearers of anti racism they'd like us to believe!”

The Board of Deputies of British Jews is among her targets. In 2018, Ashraf promoted a JVL statement saying the group... 7/12
… was “appalled” by the Board speaking up about antisemitism in Labour. Mind that Zionist trickery: “this is an attempt to influence local elections and has nothing to do with the real and necessary task of challenging racism”. 8/12
And what about Israel? Easy one. In 2019, Ashraf posted an SWP message stating “we stand unconditionally with the Palestinian resistance in Gaza”. The “resistance” in Gaza is of course Hamas. The message also called Israel a “racist state”. 9/12
The message flagged a “Socialist Worker” article on Israel. Its very first line is “The existence of the state of Israel is a racist endeavour.” This statement has been highly controversial in the Labour party, as it is one of the potential examples of antisemitism in… 10/12
… the IHRA definition. The article concluded with a call for a single state, the return of refugees, and rejection of the IHRA definition. This is an ugly vision of the annihilation of today’s Israel and a free pass for antisemites. 11/12
It is long past time for mainstream politicians who still work with ”Stand Up To Racism” to give the divisive and nasty SWP front a dismissive miss. The Labour MP Afzal Khan could start, this weekend. 12/12

*Thread* Why does the Labour MP Barry Sheerman work with the nasty Islamist group MEND?

He went to all the trouble of recording a friendly video meeting with them last month and then the video was disappeared without a trace.

Why might that have happened? 1/9 Image
Saqib Saddiq, Sheerman’s host in the video and a MEND “working group” volunteer in Huddersfield, might provide a clue. Perhaps someone had a look at him? His Facebook account has also been wiped clean. 2/9
Here is a sample, preserved from the good old days – "lobby" money corrupting British politics. A commenter makes this explicit and Saddiq “likes” his words. Oh, and another: the Board of Deputies of British Jews is “institutionally racist”. 3/9 ImageImage

*Thread* MEND is an utterly reprehensible extremist outfit. So it is no surprise to see they are now promoting the Islamist preacher Uthman Lateef, a supporter of death cult terrorists. 1/8 Image
There's lots to say about Lateef. But just one episode will give you the picture. Here he is speaking up for Mohammed Hamid, a "dear brother", "locked up unfairly under false terrorism charges". "Keep him in your prayers", Lateef tells Muslims. 2/8 Image
Meet Mohammed Hamid and his band. 52 dead in London in the 7/7 bombings? "That's not even a breakfast for me", says Hamid. 3/8

*Thread* On the eve of the EHRC report on antisemitism in the Labour party, reform and action are urgently needed.

One place where Labour can start is Mend. Some of its people still lend this reprehensible Islamist group legitimacy. Kirk Master of Leicester, for example. 1/17
Mend has an awful record on antisemitism. The latest ugly episode - just this week - is typical. 2/17
thejc.com/news/uk/mend-i…
Important as it is, there is more to this than antisemitism.

Since Kirk Master is Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner, perhaps he would listen to seasoned officers who know just what Mend is?

That goes for scheduled speaker Isla Dixon of Leicestershire Police too. 3/17

*Thread* The Islamic Centre of England is a Khomeinist lair in Maida Vale. Its mission is to promote vicious hatred.

This was made coldly clear earlier this year, when it saluted the Iranian mass murderer Qassem Soleimani. 1/9
dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7…
The events prompted the Charity Commission to issue an official warning to the Centre, which is a registered charity. This included "a review of its speaker policy". 2/9
apps.charitycommission.gov.uk/schemes/512449…
Here's the speech at the heart of the story. It is a paean to Soleimani by Massoud Shadjareh of the self-styled Islamic Human Rights Commission, another Khomeinist outfit in London. "Death to America!" and "Death to Israel!" chants followed. 3/9

*Thread* MEND is a nasty Islamist pressure group. It has a long record of antisemitism, promotion of some of the UK's worst hate preachers, and entirely unprincipled opposition to Prevent.

It remains true to form, as you will see with its invite to Gareth Bryant this week. 1/11
Bryant is a self-styled "chaplain" from New York City. So, what does he make of the American troubles? Attack the police, maybe? Hell yes! "Let it burn!" 2/11
What about sprinting over one of the IHRA antisemitism definition red lines? Yes!

"..the Palestinians have been made to take the place of the Jews & other oppressed Peoples of the era, while the Zionists have taken the place of the Nazis & Fascists." 3/11

*Thread* Thanks to the determination of independent councillor Dany Louise, Hastings council has adopted the IHRA definition of antisemitism by 27 votes against one abstention.

The abstention is no surprise - it's Leah Levane. 1/11
thejc.com/news/uk/hastin…
Levane is co-chair of "Jewish Voice for Labour", a group dedicated to protecting antisemites in the party and attacking their opponents. In fact, this is what attracted her to Labour in 2015 after an absence stretching all the way back to the miners' strike of the 1980s. 2/11
It's in the open. Here she takes Corbyn’s side squarely, claiming the party had been “vilified as rife with anti-semitism” when the numbers were “tiny”. Antisemitism was ”also being used as a weapon by more right-wing parts of the Labour Party”. 3/11
