Companies like countries can't run on dumb people. A company is typically a microcosm of a country & its people. If you expect certain out-of-the-ordinary characteristics in a company that aren't true to your country you are in for a surprise.
It's akin to praying for a diff outcome when u know it's not possible. No country can escape poverty with bad economy, A working economy is a developed economy. You don't grow companies by saying "pray for xyzs growth" why do the same for your country? It has to start by stopping
That's counterintuitive how can u start something by stopping. It's simple just like we must stop hiring dumb folks in companies we must stop voting dumb people into government. When shit happens, they'll say "pray for PK" prayer isn't the way out of poverty or unicorns.
We are accountable for the choices we make. Be it an established company a country or a startup. People are the core engine for success you need to bet on the right ones, course correct fast an often. Life time politicians like life time employees destroy momentum and change
Worse are the pessimists and the 'problem amplification gurus'. If some one is at the helm of a country or a company & their starting position is how problematic things are, start by replacing them. We need a solutions mind set in everything we do.
Else it becomes a self inflicted wound. If the person doesn't nurture a wound to health all they are doing is watching it spread. Would u hire a doctor who only has bad news with no solutions? Why have employees and politicians from the same fraternity then? As a people we need
A positivity mind set. From news to bad news all we consume is negative content.We become victims of what we consume what we see what we feel and what we experience. No one is really dumb or inclined to do dumb stuff but given we are too polite to intervene early on, it escalates
Don't take part in nurturing the problem sharers. Only work with positive folks and solution people. Question any one who is in a work stream for yrs but can't solve for basic outcomes. It's not the work stream that's tough, it's likely the wrong person in the wrong role.
Till such time organisations cull nepotism & move past insular hiring from sources known to them and broaden their horizons, we Will be stuck in the dumb ppl pool. Just like we are in governance. We continue to vote the same folks who take notice without taking notes. Can't solve
What u can't measure. And u can't measure what u don't note down. So if u want to run a stellar organisation start with a hard look on the people who make up that organisation, if ur hiring anew then hire the go getters vs the deflated ones. Next time u vote apply the same rules.
Choices will be limited. It's like buying the right premium ingredients for the best meal. We spend a dis proportionate amount of time as a nation as to where we buy our meat for biryani yet the same ppl don't spend the same amount of time in decisions that impact their work/life
We have an un healthy relationship with work. And companies have unhealthy relationships with employees. If ur a founder be the head of hr and sales till u cant. If you are an established company do a poll, if the most loved person is not the hr person time u need to be it.
Leadership by fear never works worse when the workforce is millennial. If your work force is not skewed in that direction already you are in for a tough run. If most of your emails start with X sahab you need to re evaluate the value prop of ur biz. All businesses will be digital
If already not. Or a large part will be. If u are still struggling with employees who can't make the leap of faith your organisation needs a 'digital bypass' like all bypasses it's not one without pain & lifestyle changes. It starts with identifying the less than practical talent
And planning to build a star team. Whilst praying is good, relying on prayer or miracles alone won't solve for much. If you can't build an A team u most certainly won't build A class products or company.Luck favours the prepared. Prepare to surround your self with smart people
There is always a choice. Choose to raise the IQ in the room & reduce the age. Vs the opposite. It's a fine balance. Just like everything else in life.
