How did the Right come to hate this country so much?
Remember when (justifiably) criticizing the United States, even over minor flaws/errors, would cause the Right to seethe with contempt over your lack of Patriotism?
Yet now,….1/
...the Right claims the country is a cesspool run by corrupt, deep-state conmen who have exploited the system to get rich.....
....and that none of this country's institutions (FBI/Intelligence/democracy/etc.) can be trusted, and therefore must be torn down. 2/
We are currently seeing this in real time as Trump challenges the election in the courts. The danger being exposed during all of this is that the Right’s contempt isn’t limited to just the “liberal judges” whose professional integrity can’t be trusted because they’re liberal….3/
...the contempt also extends to Republican state office holders and a Trump-appointed appellate court judge/panel who wrote an opinion, that not only eviscerated Trump’s legal claims, but emphasized the danger that Trump and the conspiratorial Right poses to our democracy. 4/
Article III of the Constitution empowers the judicial branch to finds facts/settle disputes. When half the country believes that every “liberal” judge, and any Republican judge that rules against Trump is corrupt and can’t be trusted, then this country is headed for disaster. 5/
The Right's emotionally-reactive, unhinged, conspiratorial paranoia has reached such a fever pitch that, simply for following the law, lifelong Republicans are being cannibalized by the Right, labeled “enemy of the people” by Trump,...6/ fox5atlanta.com/news/georgia-s…
....and lumped into the “whole system is corrupt”, and has-been-for-a-long-time rationalization of why everything/everyone who does not blindly support Trump or unquestioningly believe the conspiracy theories…must be torn down.
Again, why does the Right hate America so much? 7/
2. If/when indictments come, Trump will claim it's a "witch hunt" conspiracy by the Left to preemptively attempt to remove him from the field b/c Democrats are afraid of him, and can't beat him fairly...or even by cheating twice in row....2/
...and, similar to nearly every instance since 2015, any Republican who stands on principle/defends the rule of law will be characterized as a traitor to the cult/base who's *in on the game* to return the country back to a pre-Trump deep state run swamp. 3/
The danger that always existed with the Right Wing Media Echo Chamber was when the "supply and demand" model of disinformation shifted to "demand and supply" model. This is where we're at now: 1/
The more concentrated the power/wealth becomes, the more likely it becomes that the system that provided/created that wealth/power will eventually cannibalize itself. Thread on "Degradation of the system over time [can] potentially lead to collapse": 1/
And, I would add....the fear of a "powerless God". The less cultural relevance, and the less political power the Right possesses.....the less "power" their God has over society/non-believers. This is why the Right attempts to subvert the separation of church and state. 1/
The Right's fear of loss of power has created a pathological pursuit of it. The "Make American Great Again" slogan is a nostalgic romanticization of not just a perceived past that included cultural dominance....but one where that cultural dominance wielded political power....1/
The inevitable demographical change that will result in the U.S becoming minority majority by 2045 has created fear over the realization that with the demographical shift comes, not only comes a cultural shift....but a shift in political power dynamic. As a result...2/
....the Right has embraced a "the ends justifies the means" strategy to desperately cling to power in the Supreme Court (Merrick Garland)....through voter suppression....and even undermining half the country's faith in democratic elections (Thread): 3/
