Shettima’s lecture: How outgoing leaders should search for potential successors
Former Borno State Governor and Senator representing Borno Central, @KashimSM Shettima, has appealed to leaders in Nigeria to always place high premium on personal intellect,
competence and capability in appointing leaders against other primordial considerations.
Shettima said that in a lecture with the theme: "SUCCESSION PLANNING-ENSURING CONTINUITY AND BUILDING A SUSTAINABLE FRAMEWORK", which he delivered on Thursday in Ado Ekiti,
at a high level retreat 2020 organised by Governor John Kayode @kfayemi of Ekiti. The event was also attended by former Lagos Governor and Minister of Works, Mr. @tundefashola (SAN).
MISLEADING AUDIO ON ZABARMARI KILLINGS IN CIRCULATION
This is to notify the general public that some top military officials that woefully failed the President & the Nation are actually behind the concocted 3 minutes Interview now being in Circulation.
Nobody knows the identify of the person making the misleading claims in that audio. The purpose is to dismiss the killings as one that is carried out by Boko Haram against their collaborators, & to mislead the public that most of the victims are not actually farmers
but supporters of terrorists that are into illegal business. If that is actually true, the President's Spokesman, @GarShehu will not make the insensitive remarks that "the farmers that were killed did not get security clearance from the military before embarking on farming".
The massacre took place in the abandoned and deserted fishing and rice producing community of Koshebe. Koshebe is 15 kilometers away from Zabarmari and about 27 kilometers away from Maiduguri on a very bad road.
The area is only accessible by motorcycles and agricultural tractors due to the swampy and challenging nature of the terrain.
A day after this incident, the theatre commander and the Ag GOC 7 Division visited this location.
They had to ride on tractors alongside their escourts to access this area. They visited the scene where this killings took place. Sat 28 Nov was an LG elections day; elections had not been held in Borno for 12 years and as such,
48 bereaved families of Zabarmari farmers killed last Saturday, today received N600,000 each and bags of food items from a committee assigned
by @ProfZulum to transparently convey external donations to the victims.
The fund came from combined support of N20m by the northern governors forum, and N5m by the northeast development commission, NEDC. Borno gov't had earlier given each family N200,000 on Zulum’s directive.
A committee, chaired by Borno’s commissioner for youths and sports, Saina Buba undertook Thursday’s distribution in Zabarmari. The committee included a member of house of representatives, representing Jere federal constituency, member of Borno assembly representing Jere,
