It's been four months. Four months with no accountability, no answers - not even an apology. I can't be the only one who still thinks of the ones we lost. On this sorrowful day, I'd like to remind you of some of them.

#BeirutBlast Image
The ten firefighters who were literally sent to their graves. They were not aware of the ammonium nitrate stored at the port, despite several senior Lebanese officials knowing of its existence. None of them had the conscious to stop them from going in. #beirutblast Image
Rawan Misto, a 20 years old waitress at a restaurant close to the port. Her mother said she used to work to support her family. Who's looking after them now? Image
Joe Akiki, a 23-year-old who was working at the port. His parents received his college degree on his behalf in September. They believe authorities took too long to find him and that his life could have been spared. Image
Elias Khoury, a 15-year-old who died from the injuries he sustained in the Beirut explosion. I can't imagine how much his mom misses his smile. Image
Alexandra Najar, a 3-year-old who was once protesting the same government that killed her. "You killed us in our homes where I thought I could protect my family and be safe," said her father. Can a parent ever heal from that? Image
Malak Baza And Ali Ayoub. They left behind two toddlers. What will happen to them when they realize they're orphans because of a bunch of criminals who remain untouched? Image
2-year-old Isaac Oehlers, the youngest known victim. His father says he was murdered that day. "It was murder because negligence on this scale is criminal and evil." Image
Ali Msheik, a worker at the port who died because he picked up an extra shift so he could earn 5,000 LL. He left 3 children behind. It's one thing to miss a husband. It's a whole other to wonder how you'll be able to keep three dependant humans alive now. Image
Ibrahim Al Amin. He was let go from his job at AUB and started a new job at the port soon afterward to bring in extra income to the family, 22,000 LL a day. On Aug 4, he picked up an extra shift for 5,000 LL - a deal he had to bargain for. His family spent 4 days looking for him. Image
Last but not least, the 43 Syrians who probably found refuge in Beirut, after escaping death and danger. The people who had to them beg for 5,000 LL a shift are the same ones who ended up murdering them. Four months later, they are still in power. Absolutely nothing has changed.
