As well-financed false narratives continue spreading like laundered money, just a quick refresher on how to sniff out the bullshit.

First, know the techniques. Liars can’t fight truth head on, so they deflect by casting shade on motives.
1/ If you’re a dictator running a wreck of a nation, one way to bootstrap your way back to relevance is to steal the soul of democracies on the cheap.
2/ Disinformation is as old as the catapult, but the modern means of transmitting the bullshit has hastened the impacts.
3/ Say you’re an oligarch who doesn’t want to pay taxes, it’s super cheap to hire morally bankrupt individuals and/or naive young techies to create military grade lies so a fraud in a suit becomes “president”.
4/ Because Trump’s job is to flood the truth-zone with shit, it’s critical to review and understand that our country was a target nation of a foreign military’s cyberattack to interfere with our democratic freedom. Putin was afraid of Hillary Clinton—she knows who and what he is.
5/ The courage of whistleblowers is profound. @chrisinsilico bravely atones for his work at Cambridge Analytica, which targeted persuadable minds with weapon’s grade deception. Truly heroic.
6/ Turns out moving fast and breaking things was really bad for democracies on a global scale. The rise of authoritarianism goes hand in hand with the rise of techno-fascism. Again, much respect to the courage of whistleblowers.
7/ There are key documentaries to watch. They supplement the reading that must occur to fully grasp the deception wars. Start with @ActMeasuresDoc
8/ Next, please watch @thegreathackdoc
9/ Please watch @unfitmovie by the folks behind @duty2warn
10/ Always zoom out to grasp the bigger play: when authoritarian leaders chronically lie, it’s to cover corruption.
11/ While you’re zooming out, be sure to grasp all the action that is occurring under the daily distractions. That’s where the heart of the f*ckery can be found. Putin is using Trump to weaken NATO. Full stop.
