The IG found that the OAWP misinterpreted its statutory mandate resulting in failures to act within its investigative authority. Instead of protecting whistleblowers and investigating bad actors, it INVESTIGATED whistleblowers and PROTECTED bad actors. 2/

Further, the OAWP did not consistently conduct procedurally sound, accurate, thorough, and Unbiased investigations, and the IG found that the VA struggled with implementing the Act’s enhanced authority to hold appointees accountable. 3/

This abject failure has led to unconscionable retaliation against whistleblowers, like the congressional staffer who was sexually assaulted at a VA facility but faced retaliation from the Secretary for reporting it. 4/ washingtonpost.com/politics/va-wi…

So @JoeBiden, if you’re listening, I’m a disabled veteran, govt & VA ethics expert, 11+ years experience with the VA, I’m a Dr. of health admin, & I would LOVE to help restore the OAWP & create the policies and procedures this administration failed to adopt under the Act. 5/
