No surprise to me, but my Congressional 'representative,' Trump sychophant @RepNewhouse, is among the 106 @HouseGOP members who have violated their oath of office & abandoned democracy today by signing onto an attempt to overthrow the will of more than 81 million American voters.

I hope @Lawrence posts his opening statement & segment with @SteveSchmidtSES from this evening, because they expressed, more eloquently that I can, the extent to which @RepNewhouse, @cathymcmorris & the other 104 @HouseGOP seditionists have betrayed the Constitution & the nation.

The burning question in my mind is: why are they doing this? They obviously fear Trump, but why? What damning information does he have on them? What do they fear he will do to them? Or are they simply in favor of ANYTHING that preserves the white-dominated, Christian patriarchy?

I had never pegged @RepNewhouse & @cathymcmorris as being white supremacists, but that is essentially the cause they have committed their support to: Trump seeks to throw out election results in states where urban black voters delivered the victory to @JoeBiden & @KamalaHarris.

Everything I am saying in this thread I would say directly to @RepNewhouse's face. I've lived in #WA04 for 31 years, as an independent liberal (not a Democrat) in a conservative stronghold. But I have NEVER been so disgusted by my Congressional 'representative' as I am today.

I really, truly am concerned about why @RepNewhouse has chosen to abandon democracy for autocracy. Does he realize, or care, that our nation's adversaries - particularly Putin - are delighted by this turmoil, this usurpation of our electoral process? I demand an answer to this.

Trump - who has repeatedly demonstrated an affinity for & allegiance to Putin - has gutted our State Dept, appointed unqualified lackeys to key #natsec positions, & refused to condemn Russian bounties on our troops in Afghanistan, or their harassment by Russian forces in Syria.

Why do you suppose that is, @RepNewhouse? Do you care about our servicemembers overseas, facing these overt threats from Russia that Trump refuses to even acknowledge? What do you have to say about these issues? Tell me, publicly, here on Twitter. And if you won't do so, why not?

As someone raised to view public service as a righteous calling, and the people who commit to it selflessly as society's best citizens, I need to know what it takes to make someone turn against their own nation & fellow Americans. You can tell me, @RepNewhouse. You did it today.
