I came to Yuma, Arizona to provide excellent healthcare and advocate for underserved populations. The love and support I've received from the community reaffirms this is where my family and I need to be. I'll be back with my team in the trenches on Monday!
Thank you EVERYONE for the support. Truly unbelievable!! This would not have been possible without YOU, but it's important to remember this is happening to 100s of doctors, nurses & healthcare workers nationwide, as well as teachers.
In January, we will begin pushing legislation to protect doctors & healthcare workers from retaliation and ensure they have due process, so that hospitals cannot unilaterally say a doctor cannot return back to work.
If you have a similar story and are comfortable sharing then please do on this THREAD. Your voice is important. I've talked to many doctors, who had similar incidents happen to them, which made me realize how widespread this situation is.

It's INHUMANE for the U.S. to allow MILLIONS to get infected from a deadly virus with known complications.
On 12/12 Florida Gators star Keyontae Johnson collapsed on the basketball court. He previously tested positive for COVID-19 during the summer

27 y.o. Michael Ojo, former @FSUHoops center, died from COVID. He was playing overseas in Serbia when he contracted the virus. He tried to bounce back, but was still short of breath, then collapsed and died during practice. eurohoops.net/en/euroleague/…
7,081 Arizonans have died from COVID. In my Yuma community, 415 were taken too soon. @JENBYUMANEWS continues to update this video so their memory lives on. It's truly tragic that many of these deaths were preventable @dougduceyspark.adobe.com/video/MnalbqbY…
I encourage journalists to reach out to the surviving loved ones to share their lives before it was taken by COVID19.
From this video you can see in some families, multiple family members have lost their lives to COVID.
I just received tragic news that my friend Jennifer Maria passed away this morning from leukemia, leaving behind 3 children to navigate this world without a mother.
Jen was an ER nurse @nyphospital since 2012. During that time, she touched many lives including mine. You would never know that she was suffering in silence from leukemia by her demeanor, but one day she revealed her diagnosis to me on shift.
She was an advocate for leukemia awareness and created this video looking for a bone marrow match, 1 month before the pandemic. Jen and I had so many crazy shifts together and she saved so many lives, which is why it hurts SO MUCH that we could not save hers.
@senatemajldr Let's keep it 💯 @senatemajldr! COVID relief is being tied up b/c Republicans want to wipe away all COVID-related lawsuits filed that “allege injury or death” due to corporate negligence. But too many died from negligence of corporations and they are getting SUED as we speak!!

A wrongful death lawsuit tied to COVID infections in a Waterloo pork processing plant alleges, Tyson Foods ordered employees to report for work while supervisors privately wagered money on the number of workers who would be sickened by the deadly virus. iowacapitaldispatch.com/2020/11/18/law…

The family of a Publix deli employee who died from the coronavirus in April has filed a lawsuit against the supermarket chain, alleging the 70-year-old was barred from wearing a mask to work and ultimately contracted the deadly virus from a co-worker. thedailybeast.com/publix-refused…
What a disaster! For the sake of Arizona lives, I wish @dougducey would listen to the medical community and implement a shelter-in-place.. anything less is futile. Our Yuma hospital now has 148 COVID19 patients with 29 in the ICU. Everyday will be worse than the last.
Not to mention the 655 new COVID cases at the state prison located here in Yuma.
As an ER doctor, if I managed patients with the same recklessness as @dougducey has managed the pandemic in Arizona, I would be sued and fired with my physician's license revoked. He should be held to the same standard.
Let's say that you're lucky and don't die from COVID19... you'll never be the same after being intubated and placed on a ventilator - NEVER! At least 5,000 people must be intubated per day in the U.S. But y'all wanted to gather for Thanksgiving 🦃
Anyone know where to find the daily people intubated per day in the U.S. This is a very important number to keep an eye on because it indicates the severity of disease in the community. It would also be great if they showed the number of patients on non-invasive ventilation too.
How many millions of Americans required this amount of oxygen support and were lucky to survive COVID19?? We're talking about MILLIONS of Americans who will have severe lung damage for the rest of their lives.
