With the announcement of the January fixture TV schedule we now have confirmation of the Gameweek 18 and 19 blank and double fixtures.
Below is a summary of this using helpful graphics from @BenCrellin
So. First to detail what the ideal chip strategy would be with this.
A Free Hit in Gameweek 18 looks βalmostβ essential for this.
This means transfers can be made to bring in as many double GW19 players as you want and you can play your bench boost or triple captain in GW19.
Which teams have a blank Gameweek in Gameweek 18?
BLANK GAMEWEEK
Burnley, Chelsea, Fulham, Leeds, Leicester, Liverpool, Man U, Southampton, West Brom and West Ham.
NO BLANK GAMEWEEK
Arsenal, Villa, Brighton, Everton, Palace, Man City, Newcastle, Sheffield Utd, Spurs and Wolves
Which teams have the best double Gameweek fixtures???
Ranked from BEST - WORST
West Ham - BUR, WBA
Leeds - BHA, SOU
Chelsea - ful, lei
Southampton - lei, lee
Leicester - SOU, CHE
West Brom - wol, whu
Liverpool - MUN, BUR
Man United - liv, ful
Burnley - whu, liv
Fulham - CHE, MUN
Which teams have the best fixture in blank Gameweek 18 to target on your free hit?
Man City vs Brighton
Tottenham vs Aston Villa
Arsenal vs Crystal Palace
Newcastle vs Sheffield United
Everton vs Wolves
You will need to pick your 11 from these 5 matches in BGW18!
So to conclude on the strategy.
Ignore Gameweek 18 and play your Free Hit in this Gameweek.
Plan Transfers for Gameweek 19 so you have a lot of players who double in this week,
π However players you will also want longer term as well!
IF YOU HAVE PLAYED YOUR FREE HIT ALREADY...
Currently it seems the best strategy is to
βDead Endβ your team for GW18.
WILDCARD in Gameweek 19
Not ideal but still can be done π
All this explained in a video just 10 minutes long on YouTube! #FPL
Enjoy, let me know any thoughts

Spurs face just one red fixture in the opening 8 match weeks. This is Man U face no other team that finished in the top 9 of the Premier League. These assets could provide good differentials over this run
Assets to consider: Son, Kane, Lloris, Dier, Aurier
2. Southampton π΄βͺοΈ
Despite playing Spurs in Gameweek 2, Southampton have a strong opening fixture run with only Chelsea looking tricky.
A lot of opponents they face are strong defensively so defenders may be key here.
Assets to consider: MCCarthy, KWP, Ings, Che Adams
