Back in early September, I put out a team-by-team prediction for L2 thanks to @WeLoveBettingUK.

Roughly 17/18 games into the season, let’s see how good, and bad, my predictions are doing 😬

I’ll go from bottom to top of the actual table.
#EFL @d3d4football
24: Southend United (Predicted 24th)
#Blues have had it very tough so far. An embargo limited who could come in as they took 2 points from 11 games.

Recent form though is strong, and it’s taken them from well adrift to 1 point from safety. Not writing them off anymore...
#EFL
23: Stevenage (Predicted 21st)
I don’t think I’m too far off here. 21st is just 1 point away at the minute.

Have much more faith in this #StevenageFC team than I ever did last year and whilst they lack experience up front, defensively they’ve improved significantly overall.
#EFL
22: Barrow (Predicted 22nd)
Spot on at the moment with this one. We’ll have to see who the new #BarrowAFC manager is though to see if their decline can slow.

Fans should take confidence in the fact no team has ever gone straight back down to Non-League after coming up.
#EFL
21: Bradford City (Predicted 12th)
I’ll be honest, I felt uninspired by #BCAFC in pre-season. I had no idea it was going to be this bad though.

It’s been terrible so far, but I’m hopeful that the right man can be brought into Bradford and make things look a lot better.
#EFL
20: Grimsby Town (Predicted 16th)
Replacing players like Hessenthaler, Whitehouse, Clarke and Vernam was never going to be easy, and it’s showing.

#GTFC are inexperienced in key areas and look defensively suspect. 15th last season, they look a way off even reaching that...
#EFL
19: Mansfield Town (Predicted 6th)
I really hoped #Stags weren’t going to burn me like last season, but under Coughlan they once again massively underperformed.

A positive future is secured now under Sir Nigel, though it’s a big ask to get them into the top 7 this season...
#EFL
18: Scunthorpe United (Predicted 20th)
Not too far off here with #IRON.

It’s as we thought. A largely young squad that has promise but looks a way off being the division’s elite yet (say for KVV when fit and the two excellent wingers).

Could well improve on 18th come May.
#EFL
17: Harrogate Town (Predicted 19th)
#ProudToBeTown were a welcome addition to the #EFL with their great start, but they have tailed off in recent weeks.

Expect the squad to be enhanced in January, which should add depth and leave them with a strong debut Football League season.
16: Oldham Athletic (Predicted 23rd)
Ah the joys of a long transfer window.
#oafc had a handful of midfielders when I put this together. No Bahamboula, McCalmont or Ntambwe.

Harry Kewell’s proving doubters wrong with a team now closer to the Play-Offs than the bottom 2.
#EFL
15: Tranmere Rovers (Predicted 4th)
A lot of people had #TRFC for automatics pre-season. I went against it as I wasn’t sure about Mike Jackson. That’s proven to be right.

However, with Keith Hill now in and the table as tight as it is, Tranmere are well in the top 7 hunt.
#EFL
14: Port Vale (Predicted 2nd)
Oh Vale, I had so much confidence in you...

I really saw a complete squad at #PVFC with a great mix of strikers who offered different approaches to games.

They’re in the Play-Off hunt, but need to reach another level to make the top 3.
#EFL
13: Crawley Town (Predicted 15th)
Not far off at all with #TownTeamTogether.

Losing Lubala and Palmer hurt, but they’re departure hasn’t been that noticeable because of what the likes of Watters (ridiculous signing), Nichols, Hessenthaler and others have been doing.
#EFL
12: Bolton Wanderers (Predicted 1st)
(Deep sigh)

There was so much I liked about #BWFC. Ian Evatt having players like Doyle, Sarcevic and Delfouneso at his disposal offered so much promise.

A bad start, things have improved overall, but 1st looks a mile away for them...
#EFL
11: Walsall (Predicted 7th)
It was the signings of White, Osadebe and Rose that convinced me #Saddlers were Play-Off material.

There still seems to be the bugging inconsistencies of last season though. Recent form is strong, but can you trust it to last long term?
#EFL
10: Leyton Orient (Predicted 14th)
Another one where the extended transfer window’s done me over. Only Ousseynou Cissé had arrived at #LOFC at the time. Akinola and Thomas came later.

I also didn’t anticipate Danny Johnson having the season of his life. Orient looking good.
#EFL
9: Salford City (Predicted 5th)
What kept #WeAreSalford out of my top 3 were the things Alexander was sacked for, a lack of home wins and a poor style of play.

Will it change under Wellens? It’s possible but they’re still yet to look like one of the division’s best sides.
#EFL
8: Morecambe (Predicted 18th)
I was confident #Shrimps wouldn’t be in a relegation battle this season. I did not think they’d be this good.

Phillips, Cooney and CMG have impressed as expected, but don’t if ignore Kenyon and Wildig who look rejuvenated under Derek Adams.
#EFL
7: Colchester United (Predicted 9th)
Saw not many fancied #ColU after losing Jackson, Prosser, Comley and Nouble in the summer.

Still feel they’ve filled the holes left by the first three though, and Jevani Brown’s performances up top are why they’re in a great position.
#EFL
6: Cambridge United (Predicted 13th)
Another one heavily unfancied who’s proving us all wrong. #CamUTD have looked fantastic under Mark Bonner at times.

Did mention that Paul Mullin’s permanent signing would be good. His 18 goals in all comps so far should justify that.
#EFL
5: Exeter City (Predicted 8th)
Got this weird trend with #ECFC in recent years.

I tip them to finish inside the Play-Offs and they finish outside. I tip them to finish outside the Play-Offs and they end up inside 🤷🏻‍♂️

They want top 3 though. Definitely in the hunt for it.
#EFL
4: Forest Green Rovers (Predicted 11th)
Still cautious with #FGRFC because of their collapse at the end of last season, but it feels like they’ve sorted out their issues.

Reliable keeper, consistent scorer, midfield even stronger than before, Cadden sensational, great team.
#EFL
3: Cheltenham Town (Predicted 3rd)
Broom replaced with quality. Long’s absence replaced with quality. Varney’s and Greaves’ contribution replaced with quality.

I’d say #ctfc look even better than last season.

Just don’t move from 3rd so I can get this one right 😉
#EFL
2: Carlisle United (Predicted 10th)
There was only really one question with #cufc, how long does Chris Beech need to get this working? The answer, not very long.

Fantastic from front to back, and who on Earth would have put Jon Mellish and goal machine in the same sentence?
#EFL
1: Newport County (Predicted 17th)
Fitting we finish with the worst one of the lot from me 👍🏻

Cooper, Devitt, Proctor and Ellison hadn’t yet arrived at #NCAFC but thinking Mike Flynn wasn’t going to improve on 19-20 was foolish on my part.

Great manager with a great team.
#EFL
