Everything went very well.

A question about various voting methods, touching on the curb side voting process. The November 23rd election involved 24 stations were set up for voting with additional temporary staffing.
Acknowledgment of report has been approved. Thank yous abound,
Agenda Item #7 is now being discussed.
The PEO Performance report found that overall performance of election officials in Cuyahoga County was very strong. There was a significantly higher percentage of new workers involved in the November election. And, this was all in spite of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Great work!
An ongoing challenge will be convincing a decent percentage of the workers for future elections. Let's stay civically engaged Cuyahoga County.
Fewer elections were rejected but the department believes the raw number of rejected ballots is too high. Most common error is having a voter at the wrong precinct. There is no reason for the number to be this high as the tools are provided in training to address these errors.
Continued training emphasis will be on education of provisional voters and future poll workers. Cuyahoga BOE wants to keep the citizens engaged - both the voters and those who take a step further and work for BOE.
Questions by Ms. Inajo Chappel:
Has poll workers retention initiatives efforts happened before? Can we use grant money for this? Can we have poll worker recognition? We want to keep people coming back to work with us.
Answers by a BOE member,

We have a substantial amount of money from the state to pay POE members, we may be able to use it ongoing but it depends if we have access to it. Cuyahoga BOE CLE program will continue which allows attorney to acquire education credits.
Questions by a BOE member,

What are the courses?
Answers by a BOE member,

If you are a returning poll worker, you have the opportunity to take a full course online. About a third have used this service. For the real adventurous workers were able to log-in to the poll worker portal and access all educational tools.
Report has been acknowledge and approved.
Vouchers have been approved and passed.
A BOE workers has been acknowledged and approved.
Agenda item 9 New Business is being discussed.

Directive 2020-14 restricts cancellation of a voter only after they have been approved by the Ohio Secretary of State. Cuyahoga BOE is required to submit an update. They submitted one but has yet to hear a reply from OH SOS.
Around 8500 registrations have been certified to cancel.

Ms. Inajo Chappell requests a report be compiled to review the submission of cancellations and how the number of cancellations has been collected.
An update pertaining to a potential 11th Congressional District Election. An election day has not been announced yet as a vacancy has yet to occur.
Candidate deadline is usually 90 days before the election and are required to have at least 50 signatures of support but this may change.

Cuyahoga BOE generally advise candidates to not be circulate petitions as no election has not been announced. We all have to wait and see.
There is a risk if you are circulating petitions too earlier as the collection of the signatures may become outdated and invalid. No candidates want to be invalid.
Question: what is the grant money being used for?

A discussion about cords and vendors occurred.
Agenda item EXECUTIVE SESSION will occur in a private phone call.
Roughly 10 minutes passed after the executive session. They returned to say Happy holiday and new years to all.
Meeting adjourned around 10:27 p.m. This concludes the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections meeting. The next regular Cuay BOE meeting is scheduled for January 20, 2021. Stay up to date about news & potential special elections boe.cuyahogacounty.gov
