The primary health care system has collapsed.
What is uncomplicated malaria doing in a teaching hospital
Secondary system too is on verge of collapse
The referral system of healthcare isn't there again. It is all distorted
For example take the Lagos Island for example.
I can categorically beat my chest and tell you 98% of the private hospitals there that have state of the art equipments cannot be afforded by the masses only the elite
The remaining 2% are accessed when they do mission and outreach
We all want a universal health care that is affordable, accessible and sustainable
The revival of the NHIS too is important
The NHIS only stocks cheap brands and you'll be surprised that basic supplies like syringes, gloves etc aren't covered sometimes
Hilarious right
Private hospitals, most of them are the worst paying for Doctors .
They use Doctors like there is no tomorrow, and they are the reasons why this ridiculous pays are available
Some will offer a meager 500/hr for locum..like really
A Danfo driver makes more than that
I know we bash Government hospitals, of course they deserve to be bashed for the substandard, non functional system & lackadaisical attitude of the government
But take a poll 80% of these twitter bashing Doctors are looking to work in Government hospitals because they pay well
You know what with the Private hospitals. most of them there isn't job security except maybe you're a consultant
They are run like a MOM & POP corporation
Recently saw an advert of a hospital making an appealing request..Of course they won't add their toxic system to the advert
My take
-This rotten Government should have ECT to reset their Brain
-Public health system should be revamped
-should be more Public private partnership
-NHIS should be revamped
-Private systems should be regulated
- Staff should be paid well & Welfare should be catered for
