Ah Ben, you never fail to deliver. Our greatest political cartoonist.
I like Garrison's new dark, quasi-occult turn.
What makes Ben Garrison such cringe genius is that he is actually a very talented cartoonist on a technical level. And yet he puts his genuine gift for drawing to the service of the dumbest, most wrongheaded, awkwardly serious, and least funny conceits imaginable.
I can't say I'd ever *buy* a book of Ben Garrison political cartoons, but I would definitely leaf through one at a bookstore if I found it. His awfulness fascinates me.

For the rest of the day, this will be a 100% positive good-vibes account. WARNING: that will probably mean a lot of music links. For example, this:
Otis Redding...he was just one of those singers who only had to open his mouth and make a noise and you were *hooked*. One of the most perfect voices in soul/R&B history.
It's just heartbreaking to think of what we lost when that plane went down. But Otis left us with the finest possible goodbye any artist ever could have:
I spent last night railing against Trump's pardons, but it's important to also point out this person is a liar and/or a fool: he is literally just making this up. Some people will do anything for clicks.
Here's @AkivaMCohen, who has spent the last few weeks admirably ripping apart the various "Kraken" election filings, also pointing out comically wrong Abramson is in a fine thread:
The quote-tweets on the Abramson thread are pathetic. So many poor deluded souls who are like "WHOA LOOK AT THIS SHARP SETH ABRAMSON ANALYSIS." People lose their ability to employ their brains, and don't realize his entire game is "lying desired reality into existence."
It's always a good thing to have this song running through your head.
Not like Elton John needs any defending from the likes of me, but classic-era Elton John (with Bernie) was truly titanic.
I thank the Lord for the people I have found.
I thank the Lord for the people I have found.
Bernie Taupin has written some awful lyrics in his day ("problematic" too, esp. when you get to GOODBYE YELLOW BRICK ROAD!) but "Mona Lisas" is miraculously beautiful, incisive and empathetic in its outsider observation of a world Taupin could see but never join. Tonio Kroger.
My God. This is the most ridiculous thing in the world. Izard's (one of Chicago's great chefs, if you live here you know her places) entire thing is recontextualizing foreign cuisine in exciting new ways using her own style. Will she apologize for Duck Duck Goat next?
(for those unaware, Duck Duck Goat is a great restaurant -- the food is excellent and surprisingly not ridiculously expensive -- whose entire premise is built around Izard's spin on Chinese cuisine. APPROPRIATION!!11!)
If this is really your standard, then Latinos and Texans should band together and march to Cincinnati to burn down Skyline Chili.
I haven't even heard this and already it's the worst rock Christmas song ever, truly cursed. I imagine that to even listen to it would be to bring bad luck upon one's self.
No two ways about it: Neil Young's ZUMA is such a f***in' great album.
Not even the Drunk History of "Cortez The Killer" is a blemish on ZUMA. And every single track is worthy. There are no throwaways, no songs from the reject pile. There are Neil Young classics here you may well never have even heard:
There's a song on ZUMA called "Danger Bird" that I'm pretty sure is about...well, a danger bird. Don't try to analyze it too closely lyrically. Just sink into the darkness.
