10 good thoughts that really helped me grow in 2020.

A thread:
1. Not arguing with people who aren't really close to you

Often we come across near strangers who have a contrary view point than ours on a given topic. Instead of responding to their negative actions, let go. You may feel a strong urge to respond but let go.
Just doing this will cut off more than half the toxic stuff in daily life. Instead of spending time arguing and convincing them, just give an implicit "Ok, as you say" and move on.

They may feel that they won the sprint, you'll soon realize that you won the marathon.
2. Ideology balance

What ideology do most of your personal connections have? Follow public accounts of the exact opposite ideology. Make sure either of the accounts don't propagate lies though.

Soon your feed will be more unbiased than ever before, perfect to consume!
3. Increased acceptance and reduced expectance

The less you expect from others, the less likely you are to get hurt. The more easily you accept things that have already happened, the faster you move on.

Accept more, expect less. Live more, leave less.
4. Be little, and not belittle

Not letting ego creep in. Being open to learn and being corrected. Considering yourself little in this large world.

At the same time not judging others for being slow. They're fighting their own battles at their own pace. Just wish them the best.
5. Not assuming any Yes

Unless the person explicitly says yes, anything else is a No. Be it personal or professional. Ask them clearly.

This has reduced so many of those "But I thought you approved/were interested" regrets that popup 2 months later.

Less regrets, more joys.
6. The 10-day rule

Unless urgent, do not react or come to a conclusion on any public event/news for the first 10 days. Just wait. Often things will turn out to be a lot different by the 10th day than how they started.

Be correct than be early. Be patient than be misled.
7. Utilizing the mute feature

Mute is the best way out if you feel someone's content is too toxic for you. Leaves no sign to the person (unlike block/unfollow) while relieving you out.

I've muted more accounts this year than ever before. Guilt free pleasure.
8. DEW: Dream big, Enjoy every day, Work hard

Let your dreams begin where their struggle ends. Work equally hard to fulfill those dreams. And most importantly, enjoy the journey. End the day with happiness, even if not for success.
9. Working on both the body and the mind

Don't ignore either of these. Can't stress enough about the benefits of meditation. Good sleep. Workouts and exercising.

Just these 3 things will make life more positive than before.
10. Raising not just trophies, but communities

Achieving success but also making sure to give back to the society. Helping others achieve their dreams.

The kick >>>>>
Some of these may sound really obvious to others, but I'm glad I found and started following them this year. Despite all the adversities in 2020, I've been involved in lesser fights, been less hurt and more content than ever before. Thanks to these 10 bits :) n/n

THREAD: It is important to know the concept of money vs wealth.

Money: What you earn for the work you did. An effort-based return.

Wealth: One that earns for you even while you are asleep. An asset.

Time to think, are we spending more time earning money, or building wealth?
Being good only at programming may not help you become powerful in the longer run. A good business understanding and creativity is equally important. Knowing not just how to code, but also why to code.

An SDE earns money by building wealth for the CEO.
One can start slow, earn while learning how to build wealth. But important to not become so constrained in skills and outlook that you never take the leap.

As they say in chess, it's okay to start as pawn, but keep moving until you don't promote yourself to a queen.

Unpopular opinion: I'm not really appealed by the idea of WhiteHat Jr., atleast not till coding becomes a part of our curriculum. This will only put extra load on a budding childhood, which is already being taken away slowly due to heavy expectations from a kid in today's world.
It should be ok if your child cannot develop their own app. Childhood is the time to read, play, dance, explore interests, not to restrict oneself to a 13" screen developing apps, esp. cos that's what will make them "The Next Elon Musk".Promote logic building & aptitude, not this.
I never knew about Ubuntu or coding until first day at college. Scored horribly initially. Felt lost. 4 yrs later, I can now code in 25+ frameworks, have worked with IITB and ISRO, & have presented research at A+ conferences. What helped?:Logic, dedication & willingness to learn.
