Rasputin died #OnThisDay in 1916.

"When the bell tolls three times, it will announce that I have been killed. If I am killed by common men, you and your children will rule Russia for centuries to come; if I am killed by one of your stock, you and your family will be killed.."
Rasputin eventually entered the court of Czar Nicholas II because of his alleged healing abilities. Known for his prophetic powers, he became a favorite of Nicholas's wife, Alexandra Feodorovna.
Rasputin became swept up in the events of the Russian Revolution and met a brutal death at the hands of assassins in 1916.
Shortly before his death, he wrote to Nicholas to predict that if he were killed by government officials, the entire imperial family would be killed by the Russian people.
His prophecy came true 15 months later, when the Tsar, his wife and all of their children were murdered amidst the Russian Revolution.
Will I have to remind you again that they claim to have his penis preserved in a jar in a museum in Russia
Don't Google it
This guy is holding it

For American housewives in the 1930s, the vibrator looked like any other household appliance: a nonsexual new electric technology that could run on the same universal motor as their kitchen mixers and vacuum cleaners. Image
Before small motors became cheap to produce, manufacturers sold a single motor base with separate attachments for a range of household activities, from sanding wood to drying hair, or healing the body with electrical vibrations. Image
(The ‘Veedee’ vibratory massager claimed to cure colds, digestive complaints and flatulence through ‘curative vibration’. During the late 1800s, massage was considered effective for combating almost any affliction. These ranged from headaches to female ‘hysteria’.) Image

I'm better at making jokes and posting dog pictures than at being emotional. But I do need to say how grateful I am to all of you for helping me get this far.

Seeing my name on @ForbesUnder30 is unreal. Image
I keep doing what I’m doing because I really love it, and because I know that there are people all over the world willing to see what I have to offer, to listen to the stories I want to tell, and to spread the messages I want to share. And that means more than anything.
I couldn’t do even half of what I do and wouldn’t have achieved so much without @dgjones. More than supporting me since the beginning, he yells at me when needed, and is more important than he can imagine.

Thanks for being the best (and most annoying) partner in crime.

Say what you want, but this right here was the best archaeological find of 2020.
The discovery of a huge 2,000-year-old cat image carved into a hillside in Peru could only have happened in 2020. Nothing made sense this year.

Letter sent by Beethoven to a little girl in 1812:

“Do not only practice art, but get at the very heart of it; this it deserves, for only art and science raise men to the God-head.

If, my dear Emilie, you at any time wish to know something, write without hesitation to me... /1
The true artist is not proud, he unfortunately sees that art has no limits; he feels darkly how far he is from the goal; and though he may be admired by others, he is sad not to have reached that point to which his better genius only appears as a distant, guiding sun... /2
I would, perhaps, rather come to you and your people, than to many rich folk who display inward poverty.

If one day I should come to [your town], I will come to you, to your house; I know no other excellencies in man than those which causes him to rank among better men; /3
