This is a photograph that neatly helps to explain why the First World War was the abject trash fire it became. (Tsar Nicholas II on the left, King George V on the right)
Millions of people died horrifying deaths because one family had some drama and one chauffeur reversed at a very inconvenient time.
World War One:
England, Germany, France, Russia, Austria-Hungary: we are friends and advanced nations, we do not want to go to war, the Schlieffen Plan is just for funsies
Gavrilo Princip: :: throws bomb ::
England, Germany, France, Russia, Austria-Hungary: well fuck
The family resemblance even caused wacky sitcom happenings, before uh the family ties also helped to cause the continent to descend into hell.
Seriously, thousands of men choked to death on chlorine gas at the Second Battle of Ypres because of intrafamily strife, one bad chauffeur, and a cultural understanding that war would be awesome and cool
“1917” was a great movie I’ll never watch again because it was basically a documentary as World War One was unbridled hell

It’s extremely telling what this officer appears to believe Operation Gothic Serpent was intended to do (technically it was an effort to capture a faction leader to end the Somali Civil War but it went pretty much straight to hell)
I remain somewhat perplexed at some conservatives arguing against mail in voting, which helped Republican candidates win multiple races this cycle, but at the same time, I am not entirely perplexed.
The Republican Party, is not, in fact, an entity in service to one person, but it is financially optimal to apparently pretend otherwise.
“These Republican candidates won in tough races that leaned on early voting, but Trump lost, so we gotta get rid of early voting”
